Pros: Wifi, keyboard, nice screen, unique form factor, nice operating system
Cons: Slowness, firmware bugs
First impressions This phone comes in an ordinary box with a picture of a bunch of people in a car printed on it. The phone and the accessories are wrapped in bubble wrap. The following is included with the phone *Standard Nokia charger *CD ...
Pros: Superb screen & clarity
Vastly changed Symbian layout.
Extra memory, 2Gb MMC limit
Cons: keyboard tricky poor layout
Battery life poor
inexplicable menu changes
Poor battery compartment layout
Update April 12/05 After my intial bad experience with this phone, Nokia have finally replaced it with a brand new handset with v4.51 firmware and it resolves all the problems listed below. Credit to Nokia for taking notice of the problems. I still ...
Pros: Safest bet at this time for a Symbian Series60 phone Cons: PC software, Bluetooth support
Selection criteria I bought a 6670 because my work required me to be able to run Symbian applications, and Series60 was the safest pick in terms of software support and compatibility. To give perspective to this review my recent mobile phone ownership ...
Pros: 2 piece laptop like form factor Cons: no touch screen and weak CPU, can't handle browsing fast enough
This is the most difficult product review of my life because Nokia 9500 Communicator is almost like 2 or 3 digital products combined into one. It has features of PDA, Phone, and Laptop like functionality. I got Nokia 9500 Communicator two week back ...
Pros: It's a pretty "fun" phone. Cons: Battery can be crappy, 1.23mpxl camera is not *that* cool-and-takes-a-sec-to-take-a-photo, default FONT is narrow.
The first thing that I asked the girl behind the counter at the store where I was buying this from was if I could change the phone's thin, ugly font. She informed me that I can change the font *size*, but not the font itself. This was disappointing. I ...
Pros: Hardware and software (SymbianOS) sets a great base platform, and almost unlimited expansion potential! Cons: not exactly slim, "only" up to 2GB miniSD cards, CPU could be a bit faster.
This phone has so many features, possibilities, and customizability, it's almost endless. This is mostly thanks to the Symbian OS 9.1 3rd edition that it uses. My review covers just the tip of the iceberg, but hopefully it gives you an idea to see that ...
Pros: Performs all functions as advertised. Suitable for intermittant home use.Cosmetically attractive case and exterior. Cons: The neat-o case and overall good appearance belies what lurks within.
This recorder does all it claims to do. It can be switched to go on when the phone is lifted OR only when audio is present. The "voice control system" (VOX) has a 3 position sensitivity adjustment. Sadly, however, when the built-in mike is used for ...
Pros: Best feature set laptop replacement device with WiFi, Bluetooth, InfraRed, real Keyboard, camera Cons: Poor design, buggy applications, pathetic performance, irrational interface approach, painfully slow.
I am sharing below an email I sent to Nokia. I hope it helps you avoid this clunker, especially useless considering how expensive it is. I am adding some comments in ALL CAPS within the original text below to share workarounds that may help those ...
The Nokia 9500 Communicator is a truly powerful little device, fully equipped with nearly all the technological capabilities available on the cell phone market. The phone is one of few to include a fully operational keyboard in its design, and comes with ...
Pros: Large number of features Cons: Loses network when 3G signal poor. Texting & phone book Fonts too small.
This phone has many excellent features. The camera produces very good images for a phone. Now I'm used to Symbian software I find it slick to use. Being able to set a long backlight 'time out' adds to the convenience of use so the screen doesn't black ...
Pros: 4 in 1 Mobile Juggernaught Ipod and Microsoft killer. 'nuff Said. Cons: Would love a 2MPix camera
What can one say, Well done Nokia! While other phones are sporting Windows CE, soaked in colors, requiring HUGE CPU's to look pretty, Nokia went in low and smooth, adding everything, including the Kitchen sink! Does it's media player play all the Mp3's you can load? Does it's Jpegs look the same. Of course! But does it come with the Microsoft bugs? ...No! and remember, this phone OOZES personality. Anyone familiar with a Nokia can operate the front of the phone, so the interface is the one we know and love. but flip the phone open and we see why the phone is a landmark achievement. Everything you need is well organised, and with the total memory of the system at 2.06GB, it leaves an IPod feeling justifiably threatened. But wait, you can load application for just about anything you would like...and mm...no Internet Explorer...but faster internet, can that be? The idea that Microsoft CE is better just lost the war! Oh, and it can make calls.....GPRS, EDGE, DUAL SIM, and wireless lan...An internet modem for your PC or laptop utilising GPRS or EDGE...mmm..Surely you too will see the light, I did!
Far better than Sony P-800 by aamitabhsharma ,Apr 03 '05
Pros: Good Battery (max. 2 full days), Very handy, light weight. Cons: No jack for normal headphones, processing speed very slow in comparison to the other PDA's.
I was using Sony P-800 and just changed it with this Nokia 9500. I have seen where all the phones stopped working due to signal problems Nokia's don't have any problems and due to that the battery power is also very good. The screen sharpness, keys etc is superb and user friendly. The only draw back is there is no jack for normal headphones to listen to MP 3 songs and there is no availability of good Headphones from Nokia with their special connector.
I purchased this product due to the voice clarity and battery life.
Nokia 9500 - A Class of Its Own by calot2 ,Nov 01 '05
Pros: Speaker and voice clarity, full features all in one, keyboard makes writing convenient Cons: Battery standby could be better, Size like a pencil box (according to my spouse)
Can you believe? This is my first Nokia phone ever since I started using a handphone since 5 years ago (i've been using several motorola, samsung, siemens, ericson, anextek handphones and smartphones). The phone is excellent in every aspect it can deliver.
Processor may be a bit slow, but so far it never crash on me. Overall scale, I would say that anyone seeing you with this phone, they have the impression that you're either a serious executive or a good money-maker. Why ? because the price is so handsome (high) that even an AP or 2nd hand set is expensive.
Pros: Able to Connect to Computer, Excellent Quality Camera Cons: Non that i can find
This Nokia is superb. I Bought it as a replacement for an old 6220, which was always having operating problems. The new 6630 is frankly amazing. I,ve had it two months now and it is simply the best nokia I have had over ten years of updating every year. It is linkable to my laptop with the included USP cable and once linked I can download a new ring tone every day taking only 1-2 minutes. Which has made me the envy of my socials. The Camera and Video facilities are also excellent with a very clear 1.3m pixel camera. Every day I use this phone I am finding something new to learn, it is so packed full of goodies, with the memory to hold them.
