Pros: Inexpensive, performs basic functions reasonably well.
Cons: Grainy composite and overly soft, dark component picture, some ineffectual options, flimsy areas of construction.
Summary: The Panasonic DVD-S29 DVD Player lies roughly at the same price point as a number of cost-effective DVD players, most notably the flexible but inconsistent Philips DVP-642 and the robust Sony DVP-NS50P. While it is a pretty good value, often available ... read more

Pros: Inexpensive, plays well both PAL and NTSC discs and most importantly compatiable with old TVs.
Cons: Front panel is not very aesthetic.Little more bulky
Summary: I choose this player after an horrible experience with Sony NS 51P player. Originally I had Grundig GDV 130 which has lived its life (though short!).Every one at home voted for SONY and I went for NS 51P.Came home and inserted the disc only to see black ... read more

Pros: Very nice dvd player for an ultra low price.
Cons: Remote is funky.
Summary: Well we have kids, and anyone with kids will know that sometimes spending a little less on an item as some sort of crystal ball, insurance policy can be a good idea. Only last year I had a VCR play out on me, after further inspection, it was filled ... read more

Pros: It's cheap.
Cons: It's cheap.
Summary: The Panasonic DVD-S29 DVD Player should be known as the world's first disposable DVD player. I don't watch many DVDs so I thought an cheap DVD player would do nicely. Unfortunately, the DVD-S29 didn't last long enough to justify the cheap cost. ... read more

Pros: Fast forward with sound seems handy.
Good image quality.
Seems robust playing DVDs without glitches.
Cons: Missing Go To and VCD features.
OK for playing DVDs from start to finish.
Summary: After reading the reviews here I bought this. Today, I returned it for refund. Like all players, it plays DVDs and makes a nice picture. But there are features I had depended on with my 3-year old $50 Apex player that I was shocked were missing on ... read more

Pros: Stylish design; reads DVDs well; responsive to remote
Cons: no screen saver when paused; no "time remaining" display; remote has no volume control
Summary: I bought this to replace an APEX DVD player that was having trouble reading some DVD. This player read those same DVDs without issue. 2 years of technology advancement helped. I don't yet have a HDTV so I can't speak to compatibility on that score. ... read more

Pros: plays ALL DVD'S; video and audio quality; remote control lots of features; price
Cons: I can't think of any cons.
Summary: I tried 2 Toshibas and 1 Sony DVD's. The Toshibas couldn't read DVD-R's: on couldn't read them at all, and the other one froze at times. I was disappointed with the Sony because i'm a big fan of their products (most of my electronic equipment is Sony): ... read more

Pros: Easy to use remote, sleek design, great value
Cons: NONE! I dare you to find a negative about this unit!
Summary: This is pretty much a flawless purchase! We bought this to go with our 42" Plasma Panasonic TV. The remote has everything you'll need and is relatively compact. This is a progressive scan DVD player that will play pretty much anything you put in it. ... read more
