Pros: Great Sound Quality, very stylish and functional, talking caller id Cons: Pricey, but well worth it
Introduction I've been in the market for an expandable phone set for my home now for a while, and finally buckled down and took some action. I ended up going with the 5.8ghz Panasonic Expandable Cordless Phone set, model KX-TG5571M and ...

Pros: Tons of features, great sound clarity, easy to use phone and answering machine, high quality Cons: Mechanical talking caller id voice and announcement isn't until after the 2nd ring. Pricey.
I have owned this phone for about two weeks and I love it. It has lots of features not found on other cordless phones. My kids love the ability to download ring tunes and customize tunes for each caller. I love the "joystick" in the handset. I have ...

Pros: Easy to use, speakerphones on each unit Cons: Contact deletion could be better
This phone has been great - we've had it for about 6 months now and have yet to run into any problems. I wanted it for two reasons: speakerphone and no interference with my wireless router. The base and the handset both have speakerphones - this has ...

Would've been nice, but...
by flymuck ,Apr 04 '06
Pros: Easy to use, clear display, expands up to 8 handsets Cons: Caller ID list is *not* shared between phones!!
I bought this phone to replace my faithful Siemens expansion phones that are on their last legs, after years of use. I'm going to return the Panasonic phones today -- they have two irritating features that I just can't live with. They don't share the caller ID list, so if you clear the caller ID list on one phone, the other phones still read "x missed calls". Also, when you want to intercom another handset, you have to memorize which number you put where in the house -- on the Siemens phone, you could name each handset. I can't believe I have to do all this shopping all over again -- this is very aggravating, and to me, Panasonic really messed up on this one.

Very nice, but not perfect
by patrick427 ,Jun 04 '07
Pros: Higher quality phone with a lot of great options. Cons: accidentally turns on easy. top heavy and easily falls over.
I bought this set at Staples with an additional extension handset. I paid around $250 for the pair.
I like the phone and it's options. You can access the answering machine through the hand set. The phone has good battery life so no complaints there. Good caller ID capacity.
The phone does what it should and does it well for the most part. It's not perfect. If you put the thing in your pocket you will turn it on by accident more times than not. And when you set this phone upright on the table and if you even look at it wrong it falls over. Thats whats most annoying to me.
The answering machine holds about 40 messages and will warn you of time running out.
speakerphone works well and volume adjustments are good. You can also program a custom ring into this phone which can be fun.
Beyond the fact it can be accidentally turned on easily and can be knocked over with a weak cough it's a great phone.

Great design - easy programming - excellent quality
by Doin-it-again ,Mar 19 '06
Pros: Very well designed and excellent features Cons: A little pricey but worth every penny
After two weeks of use I can only praise this phone. Sound quality is excellent. Being able to assign different ringtones to specific callers is a very useful feature. The verbal caller ID could use some improvement but still better than any of the competition.
I would never want to go back to my old phone.

solid phone, but advanced features feel like beta versions
by chuckles960 ,Oct 08 '05
Pros: Solid phone with good sound Cons: advanced features feel like works in progress
Examples of rough edges:
(a) you can record sounds or music via an audio cable to use as new ringtones (nice). BUT it only works on that handset. To get the same new ringtone all through the house you have to record it at each handset.
(b) You can associate each phonebook entry with a different ringtone. And you can copy either the entire phonebook or individual entries to other handsets (nice). BUT there is no way to copy to all handsets at once; you must do it one by one. PLUS, the ringtone associations are not copied, you must go to each handset and enter them over again.
(c) A synthesized voice reads the callers name as provided by Caller ID. BUT while the caller ID info appears on the display quickly, the voice does not start until after the second ring. And it will only read (mispronounce) the name provided by Caller ID, it won't read the name associated with that number in the phonebook.
And so on, and so on.
