I bought my Presto from Costco about 2 years ago. The other day I turned it on and went upstairs to get a sweater as its quite cold in our place. I came down and started to watch TV and then a couple of electric sparks came shooting out of the vents just under the thermostat control and made the loud buzzing it makes as if someone were using it. It then caught fire. I ran and pulled out the plug and the flame was about 3 inches tall and starting to melt the plastic. I quickly blew it out. I know why they say never leave a heater unattended!! It could've been really bad. The thought of my wife and my cats being caught in a fire had I not been there makes me ill.

Pros: Great spot heat.
Cons: Must be cleaned, but difficult to do.

Although I am very pleased with its ability to spot heat, I am increasingly frustrated with the diffuculty in cleaning accumulated dust from the parabolic "dish" reflector (which must be done to avoid overheating and a warning buzzing sound.)  They recommend inserting a cloth through the grille or buying the device they suggest (see pink sheet included with manual).  It would be so much easier to be able to open or remove the grille to wipe the reflector clean.
