Pros: QWERTY keyboard, responsive OS, comfortable size, familiar Palm functions, mobile phone capability. Cons: Poor phone functions, headset only for mobile calls, very little memory, No Bluetooth or LAN.
I recently swapped this Palm Tungsten W for my Sony Ericsson P800 , with a coworker for evaluation purposes. After a week, I think I am ready to get my P800 back. This is another instance where a popular PDA...
Pros: Palm OS 4.1.1, QWERTY keybard, Great design, Battery life Cons: mMode, Call quality, Slower processor
The Palm Tungsten W is currently the only SmartPhone I've used so far outside the Sprint PCS network. These PDA/Cell Phone combinations prove to be really neat devices. I'm most familiar with Palm OS, and the Palm Tungsten W is yet another ...
Pros: 1) SIZE & FORM.
2) PALM OS SYSTEM
3) ALL IN ONE
4) KEYBOARD Cons: 1) DIFFICULT TO GET EMAILS
2) SOUND QUALITY NO GOOD
3) POOR COVERAGE
I prefer to stay calm before write this review.
PALM TUNGSTEN W is the worst PDA that I never had.
At first, it looks very good.
Then, problems started. Activation took more that 3 days & it was done on line.
AT&T coverage is poor....
Pros: I look forward to throwing this POS into the ocean when I get its replacement Cons: See above! Run away from this junk.
Like another reviewer, my experience with this device has been unbelievably frustrating. The telephone capability of this unit is terrible - if you get the flip-cover phone (which is why I went for this model) be warned: it is not orignal equipment from ...
Pros: Wireless web, great color screen, excellent battery life, the best cellphone user interface Cons: Earbuds required for calls (no speaker on the device.)
They finally got it right at Palm. I wanted a communication device (e-mail/contacts) during the work week and a small phone on the weekend. With the ability to move the AT&T Wireless SIM from the sleek new Tungsten W to my GSM phone on the weekends, I...
Pros: Easy to use
Excellent Screen Display
Totally integrated phone, pda features Cons: Ear bud, but cover coming soon.
The Palm Tungsten W is an overall excellent product!!!! The product features very tightly integrated phone and pda capabilities while providing an excellent color screen display. The phone utilizes AT&T Wireless GSM services which was very easy to...
Pros: Big screen, color Cons: Crashes a lot, too bulky, no Wi-Fi, CRASHES A LOT
This has to be the worst PDA I have ever used in my life. I have used Palm PDAs since the Palm V. I went from the V to the Vx to the M505, to the M515, and now to the Tungsten W. First of all in order to use this PDA as a phone you need a headset. ...
Buggy design and horrible support by dimag ,Mar 30 '04
Pros: Runs most Palm applications. Has a web browser, email and office tools Cons: Horrible support.
Very poor cell phone features
This is a horror story. I bought my Tungsten W on October 13 and to get a discount subscribed for 2 years contract with Rogers AT&T. After about 3 weeks of use it started to have disconnects from the SIMM card. I replaced it. The next one started behaving the same way after about a month. Now I have the third one with the same problem and trying to get palm to refund me money or get adequate replacement. The do not even want to hear anything. No money back no other models to replace. So I am stuck with horrible device that disconnects from the cell network couple times a day. And no way to get any decent support. I would never recommend anybody by this POS. Besides following issues have surfaced:
I was unable to install service pack on any of three devices I had so far under Windows XP.
Every time I delete a voice message it goes to my saved messages for two or three times in a row.
Pros: Still the best OS available. Lot's of Add-Ons. No Windows CE. Cons: Telephone piece is additional. Lot's of (expensive) Add-Ons
This is my third Palm and I was looking for a PDA with a mobile and not for a mobile phone that has PDA aspirations.
When you're used to the Palm OS, you know this machine in one hour. Lay-out and quality is as always. Although my first machine had a huge error, the dealer replaced it without any problem. Feed back from Palm was OK.
Inspite of critics this is a good phone by inlo ,Jan 27 '06
Pros: Everything in it except the processor Cons: Sluggish processor
I've got this so called PDAphone form a secondhand shop. I read a lot of review before decided to turn my head to this bulky device instead of Treo 270.
All in all as a phone Tungsten W offer a good voice/phone capability, believe me this is not as bad as what reviewer s said. It has better sms and voice reception, also more stable than my earlier phone (Visorphone).
The speed is rather sluggish, however with the combination of appropriate software it still going to soothe your needs of PIM functions, small games, readings, document editing etc.
The battery is absolutely superb, even mith my old 2 years old Tungsten W.
Most people are complainging on the lack of capability of using this device without handsfree when doing a phonecall. However with slight modifications, Tungsten W can easily covers that weakness. Third party's flip audio is also available.
Good battery life, external memory, Bluetooth capable (optional) and for those who still misses large Palm PDAphone display with QWERTY this is just the right choice

This is useless outside the US or with any other carrier than AT&T. Wait until it is sold outside the US to buy an unlocked version. Also I would wait until they add Bluetooth which is becoming standard around teh world. Finally, did you notice that the chip set and the operating system is more outdated compared to the Tungsten T?

This product is awesome! The PDA and phone functions work well together and the web browsing feature is exceptional. Had to sign up for AT&T to use this device but I would a lot of the carriers are going to sign on with Palm so they can offer this tool!
