I used to always get pieces of egg shell into my yolks when I tried to separate eggs- not anymore! This item is great. There is an area in the handle that allows you to hang it on the side of a bowl. I don't normally do this, I normally just hold it and wait for the egg white to drip into the bowl (not long).
I have also used this product when making hard boiled eggs. Again, in the past I had problems making hard boiled eggs (I know it's sad, but true). I would let the water boil, then go to put the egg in, but out of fear for burning my hand, I would drop it and then it would crack. This is the perfect size for lowering the egg into the pot.
