Pros: Keeps poop away from skin, ease of use Cons: Cost
We used Newborn swaddlers from the beginning with our now 2 and 1/2 month old baby (first baby). I can't remember but I think we started using them after trying a few samples. We have been happy with the newborn and the 1 size swaddlers, although have experienced some leaks. (A few were "operator error" when we forgot to make sure everything was in the right position when closing up the diaper). We have had an occasional "up the back" leak and an occasional leak out the leg holes. I occasionally forget to check to make sure the ruffles aren't trapped underneath the inner elastic layer, this may contribute to the problem.
We tried the cheaper Pampers brand and found that the feces smeared all over the inside of the diaper where the swaddlers seem to suck most of the feces into the inner layer.
The Only Diaper I Will EVER Use! by twinmom75 ,Nov 21 '05
Pros: Super-absorbant, do not promote diaper rash, stretchy & comfortable, not too pricey. Cons: There is absolutely nothing bad about this diaper in my epinion.
I was turned onto Pampers Swaddlers in the hospital when I had my Preemie twins. The preemie-size Swaddlers fit them perfectly and they were the only brand that was easy to find a preemie size in. They are now 2 months old and I still only swear by Pampers Swaddlers. I have tried Huggies only because a friend gave me a pack when I was pregnant, but went right back to the Swaddlers. The Huggies leaked right through the first time I used them. I have never, ever had a problem with leaks with the Swaddlers. Even overnight, my boys' clothes stay totally dry and they stay very comfortable. The absorbancy of these diapers is amazing, it pulls the wetness in so the skin does not become saturated. I am convinced that this is the reason I have never had any battles with diaper rash since I had my boys.
Pros: soft, absorbant, rarely leek. Cons: big gap between sizes, comparatively expensive.
this is the only diaper i've used since my daughter was born 10 weeks ago, so i might not provide the best review in terms of comparison. but truthfully, these have been great, and i have no desire to try another type. they're super absorbant (she goes all night without a changing, unless there's poop), and are soft and stretchy. i've never found the smell to be strong or offensive, as others have claimed -- i barely notice there is a scent! these rarely leek - only 3 incidents so far, which involved massive poops that we've all experienced, and generally happened when she was between sizes. thats another issue -- i found that there's a big discrepancy between the sizes. pampers indicates that the consecutive sizes overlap with regard to weight. but when my baby was around 8-9 pounds, the newborns were way too tight, the 1's way too loose! we're about to graduate to 2's so we shall see! overall, very good product and well worth the slightly higher cost!
We've gotten quite a big range of different brands of free Diapersamples in our childbirthclasses. But none we've loved as much as the swaddlers. There where no red makrs where diapers usually cut in Baby's skin, we never ever had a leak with them and never ever had a single Diaperrash. Sure, pricewise Pampers is almost the most expensice Brand on the market, but they are really worth it!
Pros: Soft & stretchy
Newborns have "grow with me" tabs
Very absorbent Cons: More expensive
I love the Swaddlers! I had always heard that Pampers were the best disposable diaper, and now I whole-heartedly agree! The Swaddlers were the second pack of diapers we ever used (tried Huggies Newborn first) and I haven't bought anything else yet at this point, and my daughter is now 2 months old. They're so soft and stretchy- the newborns have the "grow with me" tabs so she wore those up to 1.5 months old. They are also super absorbent and they ONLY diapers where I can easily tell if she's wet just by feeling them.
I plan on sticking with the Swaddlers until she's into Cruisers.
Pros: stretchy, cloth cover Cons: the front doesn't go around the baby at all.
my oldest son always wore pampers but this baby i'm not buying again. these I like only cause they say its suppose to swaddle. i don't think they do a very good job with anything. they hold the messes in just as well as any other diaper i have used. (luvs and huggies along with the cheaper store named ones) but he seems to leake way up front where the diaper stops and doesn't go around a little. I'm just not pleased with the way they are fitting my son.
Pros: Small package, probably best for under 8lbs total Cons: Leaky and the pull tabs didn't work properly
The hospital gave us a bunch of these to take away. I bought a large-ish pack of these and was disappointed by a flaw in the yellow tape handles. I had ten of the diapers in a row I had to throw away, which is really annoying at 3am when you're dealing with an unhappy newborn.
Also of the brands I tried, these seemed to leak the most often. And I'm including the cloth diapers in this analysis. There is definitely an art to properly placing these diapers. There are hard to put on properly. My 8lb4oz baby seemed to get a bit of irritation from the wraparound tabs.
Your mileage may vary but I won't be buying these again. I have also tried huggies and some no-names and both were better. For that matter, so was cloth.
Hands down, these diapers are the best!!! It took me a couple of months of diapering my son to figure out that Swaddlers take the cake. These diapers are soft, strong and absorbent. They aren't leak proof, but I haven't tried a diaper that hasn't leaked. This diaper leaks very, very seldom. They fit very well. Huggies seems to be a bit too narrow through the crotch, but these are nice and wide.
