Pros: Lightweight, balanced, small but powerful, battery last long Cons: needs accessible bitholder
Where did this Panasonic performer come from? This is a very good cordless drill. I shopped other brands including Milwaukee, DeWalt, Bosch, Makita and decided to try this one because it was recommended by a industrial power tool retailer and service...
Pros: Great performer, easy to use all day, powerful, light, compact Cons: Wish it had a magnet or clip to hold a spare bit
I used a Dewalt 14V cordless drill for a number of years and found the short run time a problem at times. I saw the better battery chemistry used by Panasonic and a few others as a big improvement so I was delighted when the Dewalt died due to a ...
Pros: Compact, easy to handle, and very powerful. Cons: Extra bit holder is awkward.
My business is home repairs and maintenance and my most commonly used tool is a cordless drill/driver. Since I bought the Panasonic 15.6 volt drill I no longer need a corded backup. I've used several brands of 12-volt tools and have consistently run into...
Pros: More powerful and lighter weight than 18volt drills Cons: Battery loses memory the longer you own them
As a contractor I have been through alot of cordless drills in my years including Bosch,Makita,Craftsman. I have also tried the DeWalt,Milwaukee and Porter Cable. My tools have alot to do with the quality of a job I can do as well as the time and effort...
Pros: light weight, NiMH batteries, full torque at low RPMs Cons: price.
Of course you've already looked at the specs, but here they are again: Length 8-3/16" High Power 390 in.lbs. of torque Battery High capacity 3.0Ah Ni-MH Extra battery Included Charging System 45 minutes (using EY0230B ...
Pros: Extreme power, longevity, quality, ergonomics. Cons: Take the plastic case that it comes in and throw it in the recycling bin.
Awesome drill! Had mine for 4 years now- used it on the job for 2 years. Most powerful, well balanced, ergonomic drill out there. Extremely long lasting batteries and quick charge. Best design. Had one repair on the clutch under warranty. Remember, ...
Pros: Quality construction, durable, quick change chucks, 1/2" drive fits all my sockets (with some reducers) Cons: Price new seems a bit steep, since it never seems to be on sale.
I bid on a different model, on Ebay, and received this unit instead. Initially, I was upset, and contacted the vendor. I had bid on the somewhat similar 1/2" chuck, variable speed 2 torque/speed range HAMMER drill (no 1/2" impact wrench function). ...
Pros: BATTERY LIFE and the true working KEYLESS chuck!!!! Cons: Case is a little cheap looking.
By far the best drill/driver I have ever used. The battery life is absolutely incredible. It outlast anything else here on my job-site. They are a little bit more expensive, but the ol' saying comes back to me. You get what you pay four. I have used DeWalt, B&D, Bosch, Milwaukee, and Makita tools. Although they are nice, this one takes the cake. Panasonic....... Who knew???????????????
Smooth running drill, although not without complaint by mediahound ,Nov 28 '03
Pros: Smooth running, great keyless chuck Cons: Expensive, balance/weight uncomfortable
Panasonic makes great cordless drills/drivers. They are well designed and last a long time. Probably the best 2 things about them is the flawless chuck design (holds even the smallest of bits in place without coming loose), and the long 3.5Ah runtime batteries. That said, they are more expensive than other brands.
I ended up with a Makita 14.4v. It was a much better value for the money especially because as of this writing, Makita is offering some attractive rebates. Also I liked the feel and balance of Makita better. The Panasonic has a huge and heavy battery while the Makita's battery is lighter (but probably doesn't last quite as long). Subsequently, the Panasonic felt like a brick was attached to the handle. Also, the case that comes with the Makita is much better-more sturdy and better designed (although larger) than Panasonic's cheapy case. Further, the Panasonic battery charger is much larger than the Makita one.
This kit comes complete with the drill, a black plastic hard case, 2 batteries and charger.
Pros: Light, Comfortable, Fast Charging, lots of power. Cons: Hard to find a deal on. Bit holder or level would be nice.
I bought this after using my Dad's identical tool a few times. He noticed the entire crew that built his house was using him and asked the guys why. They said that the builder's entire crew use them because they are so awesome. Light, powerful, killer batteries and very durable. My dad went on and on about his. I bought mine for a laminate floor/bifold door installation weekend. The batteries charge up in record time and the tool is very friendly to use, even above my head. I checked out most of the high-end drills from Makita, DeWalt, Bosch, and Milwaukee before selecting this one. The charger is very well made. The chuck locks positively. The shifting between ranges is very smooth and the variable speed trigger is very easy to work with. Totally awesome. I agree with some of the other sentiments regarding a bit holder. I also like drills with levels.
Pros: Well-built, balanced, compact, torquey, long battery life Cons: Pricey
My Makita 9.6v was getting old and very tired, so about a year ago I bought the Panasonic. What a night and day difference. Balances great, plenty of torque, no battery memory problems. The chuck does take a bit more precision to use, but grips much better than any other keyless chuck made.
Pros: Weight, power, balance, comes with 2 batteries & charger Cons: A little pricier than others in the same range
I bought this drill in 2003, and have never once regretted it. It is a great combination of power, weight, balance and ergonomics. I have used it numerous times for routine household projects, but also for some serious work with putting up plywood shutters here in south Florida, which lately has been a "hot zone" for hurricanes, the most recent being Wilma in October 2005.
The things I like about the Panasonic are the keyless chuck, the adjustable torque, dual speed (high and low) the extra battery pack, and battery life. Of course the drill is reversible. It has the power to compete favorably with the 18V drills, but is lighter and has really good balance.
I drilled thousands of holes with this drill in every type of wood, and have zero complaints. A couple roofer friends and a professional installer of aluminum storm panels have used it and say it is really a sweet product. That's quite an endorsement.
