Pros: All of the features designed for the busy person Cons: Expensive
Boy, am I ever tired of solicitors, bill collectors and nagging people who just won't leave me be! I have a million things to do everyday, and I just don't have time for these people or the fact that my trusty expensive phone just broke, leaving me to ...

Pros: Static free. Can now easily use the cordless units in a conference call mode. Cons: Message machine cuts off messages. Can not adjust volume of message machine playback
We have been using the Panasonic 4 -line wireless phone system to run our home businesses for over 5 years. The original KX-TG4000 -- 2.4 ghz system worked really well. The problem however was that our wireless router created an audible interference, ...

2 flaws
by gsosoccerdad ,Apr 12 '07
Pros: relatively inexpensive and expandible Cons: only 1/2 a voicemail system, no privacy on messages!
I just boxed up a KX-TG4500B for return because of two flaws. The worst, if you're using your extension, your receptionist can NOT put a new incoming call into your voicemail. VM only comes into play if you're not on your extension AND you don't answer.
The second flaw is that the playback of all Voicemail messages to your extension (from when you didn't answer an incoming call), are played back on the speaker phone. So, when your girl friend calls to say she's available this evening, everyone in your office will know you're cheating on your wife. Also, when that competitor calls to offer you a job, ditto!
The auto-attendant feature was stilted.

Disappointed by this dog
by megreig ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: Looks great Cons: Does not work as well as the phone it replaces. Quite a shame.
I eagerly awaited a 5.8 Ghz replacement for my KX-TG4000B. With the crowded 2.4 Ghz frequency band, the phones interfere other 2.4 Ghz devices. I purchased the new replacement model and am shocked that they broke my two favorite features: 1) Pager call (replaced with a nonworking Notify Alert feature) and 2) The ability to share a voice phone line with a fax machine. The lack of these features makes this phone useless for my small business.

Inferior Handset Speakerphone Quality compared to KX-TG6500
by davef1999 ,May 21 '07
Pros: Indeed, features four lines. Cons: Inferior to KX-TG6500
I "upgraded" from a two-line 6500 to the four line 4500B. Two important complaints:
1) The speakerphone in the handset, for me the longtime killer feature of Pano cordless phones, is noticeably lower in volume to the other party than the handsets for the 6500. I did an A/B test with both phones, each on its own line, with a friend.
2) You can't turn the ringer on/off by line. Ironically, the two line 6500 can do this individually for each of its two lines, but the four line 4500 can't. You can turn "ringer on" for all four lines, and adjust the volume globally, but should you wish to, say, only have lines 1 and 2 ring on a particular handset, you're out of luck. You can customize the ringer sound per line, but all four lines share one global on/off and volume setting.
Opinion: the goofy joystick control is confusing and twitchy.

Works for me.
by curt50 ,Jul 19 '04
Pros: Price, sound quality and features. Simple set up. Cons: No music on hold jack. No speakerphones in the cordless handsets.
When lightning got into our office KSU we chose to go cordless and add voice mail for 1/3 the cost of repairing our three-year old digital wired system. The missing speakerphones for the cordless units, and the lack of music on hold are the only features we lost. With the portability, we are no longer tied to our desks and voice mail boxes are individual. Just reprogramming the speed dials will take some time. Range is fine for us even through steel walls and the sound is crystal clear.

Panasonic KX-TG4000B 4 line phone system
by jantec ,Oct 19 '04
Pros: System sounds fantastic when you read the descriptions in the catalogs. Cons: In reality, the system simply does not work as advertised.
We bought this phone system about a year and a half ago and have had nothing but trouble with it. The signal from the base unit to the hand units never works consistently and the sound is extremely garbled. We have had to constantly send hand units in for repair. Currently we have 6 hand units - two work and 4 do not and thus we have 4 non-compatible "spare phones" on 4 desks. We are very disappointed in the Panasonic quality and customer service.

4500 works fine for us, our prior was the 4000
by rickharp ,Sep 10 '08
Pros: you see the extensions in the lcd when u put a call on hold. Cons: Can't send a call into voice mail if the recip isn't here.
We have a small business, 4.5 bodies, 7 stations. fax is on 5th line. we migrated from the 4000 to the 4500 cause hand sets were expensive to replace or fix, and we thought the base station was acting funny. Our thoughts are the 4500 has some nice features. we view the upgrade as ok, not terribly impressive over the 4000. we like the fact that you see the extensions in the lcd when u put a call on hold. i like that it stands up, has speaker, is able to join a call by holding the line button long enough. overall i am happy i spent the money to upgrade. we sold our old 4000 and the numerous old and not working handsets on ebay for a fairly impressive number. it's not terribly common that we are all not here. we all use headsets here and this phone over the old 4000 did provide the same volume (both ways) as the 4500. We tried about 10 headsets before we found the best sounding to the customer and the loudest for us. it was the inexpensive $15 plantronics M220C. Crazy ey?
