Pros: Excellent performance, zoom range, photo quality, ease of use, battery included Cons: Slight noise, slight purple fringing at telephoto
I have been using Panasonic cameras for quite some time, starting with their original mea-zoom camera the FZ1 with 12x optical zoom, image stabilization and 2-megapixel resolution. The new Panasonic DMC-FZ18 features 18x optical zoom (with optical image ...
Pros: Powerful zoom. Intuitive menu.Good macro.Long battery life. Cons: Occasionally slow to focus. The manual flash. LCD screen doesn't tilt.
We’d been itching for our biennial camera upgrade, the selling of the old on Ebay, and the purchase of the new. The Sony DSC-H1 hadn’t been any more unsatisfactory than its Olympus predecessor, but the Sony H7 offers a 15x zoom and more ...
Pros:PROS:
DSLR Features without the cost; Phenomenal Leica Lens with 18x Zoom
Cons:CONS:
Needs tripod for fast action and low light shots; No remote shutter
OVERVIEW Well, here I go again. I just can't quit buying cameras. Last year I bought the Panasonic TZ3 when it first came out and was hard to get and paid top dollar - same deal this year with the FZ18. I still own the TZ3 - fantastic ...
Pros: Price, ease, zoom, speed, photo functions, and durability Cons: Heavy and large
With an upcoming birth of my third child a new camera was necessary. Since I love taking pictures I wore out my old, outdated Kodak EasyShare and was looking for an upgrade that would allow me take pictures at a faster speed. After a lot of research I ...
Pros: -good flash
-great zoom
-great options
-perfect size Cons: -too big to fit in your back pocket
-more than a basic camera
The new fad is to find the smallest camera that there is such as ones that can fit in your backpocket, however the quality of the picture is heavily comprimised. This camera is light, small but not too small and gives an amazing picture. I have owned ...
Pros: Super telephoto, very high ISO range, excellent color balance, fast shutter speed. Cons: Camera lacks external flash connection, internal flash is adequate but tends to overexpose subjects.
The Panasonic DMC-FZ18k is an excellent camera. It's the first digital camera I've purchased that does nearly everything I want a camera to do. I love the 18x optical zoom, since I do a lot of sport photos for our school. That telephoto and the ...
Pros: Amazing and quick zoom. Clear pictures. Great Battery life. Cons: It can be a little large and heavy for everyday use. Blurs occasionally.
In getting this camera, I did a lot of research. What it basically came down to was the zooming capabilities. It was a decision between this, the FZ18 and the FZ50 (only 12 zoom but 2 more MPs). I chose the FZ18 and have had no regrets. I find that this ...
Pros: Fantastic Leica glass; LONG zoom with nice wide angle. Lightweight, highly versatile. Long battery life. Cons: Proprietary batteries, slight noise issues in images.
This is a great machine. There's very little that it cannot do, and what it can do, it does well. The competing Fuji and Olympus all suffer in the image quality department slightly more than this one, thanks to a great lens. The noise level is ...
Pros: weight, battery life, super long zoom, SD cards, ease of use. Cons: No zoom in movie mode, no tilt LCD, screen going blank in super zoom focus
I own a Canon S2IS 5mp 12x zoom camera. We were heading for a 2 week trip to Alaska, so I looked into getting something with a longer zoom. Purchasing the Panasonic FZ18 directly from the Panasonic sales dept. gave me 30 days to try it. I was hoping ...
The one bad item negates all the good. by cyclerama ,Feb 05 '08
Pros: Still pictures with audio, large and well-lit LCD. Cons: NO ZOOM IN MOVIE MODE!!!!
I regrettably sold my Konica-Minolta Z3 before I bought this camera; it did everything I wanted it to, but I wanted more zoom. Actually my only problem with this Panasonic DMC-FZ18 camera is that there is NO ZOOM IN MOVIE MODE!!!! That is unheard of in today's high tech cameras. I had read on a forum that the zoom could actually be activated in the movie mode by changing some settings, so I bought the camera. That turned out to be false information; there's nothing you can do to get it to zoom while recording. It's fine for still pictures, and you can take still pictures with audio, but if you want a useful video/movie feature, get a different camera.
Recommended options: 4GB SDHC High Speed Memory Card for movies (about $80). Extra battery.
Pros: zoom
form factor
anti shake Cons: noise at low light levels
I am a prosumer photo person and have several digital and film cameras but I use this one the most.
I like action and nature shots and this one is perfect for my requirements. Its zoom with a telephoto extender is over 700 mm to 35 mm in 35mm equivalents.
Its fast and the rechargable bat is the best. Its form factor allows for around the neck convenience.
The only negative can be noise at low ISO settings but you can get around it with software like Noiseware.
Its also very cheap considering its functions........fantastic cam.
Pros: Optical zoom, image quality, value for money, leica lens Cons: image quality in low light/ISO lot
After much reading reviews and opinions on the Internet I stay with this camera. Why? First, analyzing photos of some, Panasonic was the best. It just has chromatic aberration and distortion, even at maximum zoom. And the imperfections of the image in any case was the best 90% of the time than the other. And ultimately, if doubts about buying, and here you see that there are approximately 20 frames while competition just 2 or 3, and the separate reviews of the specialist pages are great because...there are no doubts. but we go with more features of the camera. The box that brings includes the camera lens protector, cables to connect to the PC and the TV, Cd editing software and image display, battery, strap, manuals and a parasol with your adapter. In most importantly, the zoom. Optical 18x, flexible if it reduces the resolution, which is a maximum of 8.1 mega pixels. The zoom is equivalent to a 28-504 mm. It is simply astonishing. The shortest way, the field is quite broad, it is much more than in many cameras I have ever seen. And in telephoto mode, what to say, comes barely hard without losing image quality
Pros: the zoom Cons: Quality of camera - poor; quality of service, even poorer
I purchased my Panasonic DMC-FZ18K camera in May, 2008 and totally loved it, especially the zoom. The only problem I had was the VERY short life of the battery. Then the problems began. Three months after purchasing the camera it stopped working. I called the vendor who told me to call Panasonic. I can't tell you strongly enough how poor Panasonic's customer service is. First you have to get through their automated phone system as there is no option to speak to a live person. After being transferred at least a half dozen times each time I called, I soon learned that the entire purpose of the customer service department is to stonewall its customers. To put it bluntly, Panasonic will NOT stand behind its warranty. If you don't believe me, just google Panasonic and customer service and you will find hundreds of complaints just like mine. With all the other products available, do yourself a favor and buy something else.
Pros: Zoom 18X !!!, Reliable, Great Pictures, Easy to use, Cons: Large and heavy, settings knob can be bumped to a new setting.
This camera has been a very good camera for us. The zoom is very powerful yet steady even when hand held. I bought it due to its lens and it has not disappointed. Formerly nearly all my wildlife shots were dots in a sea of green. Now we can see the animals up close and clearly.
Have had no problems with it by saillavee ,Feb 07 '08
Pros: Good clear pictures, long rechargeable battery life Cons: Bulkier than most of the new cameras out today
It takes a little time to get to know this camera, but once you do it is a lot of fun to use. It takes great vibrant pictures and the videos are nice too.
