Pros: The hanging quality lens, no zoom on the movie function and primitive editing program. Cons: Great zoom, amazing image detail and excellent movie quality.
I bought this camera three months ago at Amazon.com, and so far I am very pleased. The camera seems to be of such great quality, and it really has a professional feel to it. It is lightweight, and it fits very well in my hand. Because of the kind of ...

Pretty darn good little camera
by kcmoldybt3 ,Mar 23 '07
Pros: Compactnes, lightness, accurate exposures, very little lag, great macro in good lighting, fast accurate focus Cons: Weak built in flash,no hotshoe for external flash, high noise level in low light.
This is my second Lumix. I sold FZ20. I didn't like the lag problem, the poor low light performance and the power consumption required that I carry a spare fully charged battery. With the FZ-7 the lag problem is cured, the battery lasts longer but the low light performance is still poor. I wanted a compact camera for when I didn't want to lug the DSLR and extra lenses around so I bought the FZ-7. What really pleases me is the macro capability. My wife and I were out shooting flowers and the closeups with the Lumix were really impressive. It can't be expected to perform as well as a DSLR but under the right conditions,it does. I don't remember what I paid for it but I think it was under 300.00 so it offers good a performance value.

Excellent camera ever seen
by somesh_p ,Oct 25 '06
Pros: battery life, picture quality, optical zoom, bigger lcd display, professional look and less weight Cons: Shots in night gives more noise with higher ISO value
I bought this camera around a month ago. Already shot around 1000 pics.
Picture quality is superb. Image stablisation is excellent
12x optical zoom amazing.2.5 " LCD display good for play back pictures. Last but not least, battery life. With Fully charged battery, you will be able to shot around 300 pictures. From battery perspective, no camera offers this feature. In addition to that, charger that comes along with this camera is compatiable with 220 v. So, No worries even if you move to Europe/Asia. Another important thing, video quality (motion picture) is as good as that of higher end camcorder
You don't have to have second thought to buy this camera

panasonic dmc fz7
by kool100vr4 ,Aug 25 '06
Pros: great product from panasonic and leica. Cons: comes with a 16mb sd card is useless.
i have just purchased this panasonic fz7 in black for 344$ with free shipping from beach camera. great deal online.
i also own the fz15 and fz20 too.as you can see i love these fzs so much, i bought 3 of them..the latest fz7 is the smallest cam in its series.its got all plastic body, a very light cam, its compact size is great for those who wants a smaller cam, i like its new 2.5in lcd. the new view finder is in center of the cam now, instead of on the left side..its very easy to use..very friendly user camera.a great cam for those who wants a small point & shoot cam that can delivers great results.its leica lens is unbeatable, images are very sharp, its so sharp its scary for those who dont have perfect skin.the shots will show all imperfection of skin..colors are bright and neutral..
i highly recommended for best buy cam for its price and performance..it can outdo many big dslr cam out there easily.,.cant beat leica lens, so buy it..you'll be amazed.

great camera
by pt_pickard ,Apr 25 '06
Pros: easy to hold, fast picture taking and easy to use Cons: extras are expensive
This camera lives up to all of the good reviews listed here and other opinion pages. The features are easy to learn and the buttons are accessible when taking the pictures. The zoom is great and fast but not too sensitive that you can not adjust where you want the zoom. It is light and easy to hold. The batteries and the AC adapters are expensive if you want them but the battery life is good enough that you have time to do what you want and if it does get low it charges very quick. Overall I would recommend this camera to everyone.

Best digital camera I've ever tested or owned
by starbuck20000 ,Dec 03 '06
Pros: Large LCD and format to follow. Very easy to use. Great pictures. Nice looking. Cons: 16 mg card it comes with.
I have had a thing for Cannon cameras untill I bought this one. Cannons format is not near as user friendly as this one. If your'e not a pro, this camera is great. I especially like the 2.5 inch LCD and that it clearly displays the number of shots left plus battery condition.
Camera has built in logic so if you are doing something wrong it tells you. Love the green light that comes on once in focas. Has a 12x optical zoom and far less buttons than the cannon. Picture quality I feel is as good or better than the cannon.
Deleating bad pics is easy, and reviewing them easy. Its almost like they asked the public what they liked, and built that camera.
Only negitive I can think is the 16mg memory card it comes with.
My suggestion is to get a 1 gig memory card and a card reader and your'e all set up. Stay away from "Best Buy" and you will do ok. (another story)

Really good For Amateurs
by noobster ,Jul 14 '06
Pros: Not to pricey
Awesome LCD screen
Very good zoom
High quality pics Cons: No manually focus
a little light
Memory card is expensive
I am a crime scene photographer for a metropolitan police station so i kind of have high standards on digital cameras. We use the nikon d2x slr digital camera. I was amazed when i took this camera for a spin. My fiance was looking for a digital camera that she could use to take pictures of birds and other things from a bit of distance so i checked this out. It works very well and is very good for amateur or everyday users. The zoom is good and auto focus is decent. I do not really like having only an autofocus on my camera but for most people thats fine. It is really light which is either something people like or very much dislike, i find it good for my off duty photography work. Very nice all around camera. I love the LCD screen, its big and easy to use.

A great "upgrade" camera for a newbie photographer
by my3seadogs ,Sep 27 '06
Pros: Easy to use but flexible in its control, great optics, a lot of functionality Cons: Waited months after ordering, software is mostly PC-only
I bought this camera because I wanted to upgrade from a simple point-and-shoot digital to something a little more flexible (and with better optics and higher resolution). A semi-pro photographer recommended this one to me, and I've been delighted with it ever since.

Panasonic Lumix FZ7: A Great Digital Camera
by k_heiner ,Apr 22 '06
Pros: Lightweight, Large LCD, Leica Lens, MEGA O.I.S. Cons: A Bit of Shutter Lag, No RAW mode, Unintuitive Menu
When I bought this camera I had very high expectations, as I am still a teenager and with a memory card this camera costs over $400. Many of my expectations were met. It has a superb lens that is accompanied by an awesome image stabilizer, tons of different scene modes, and it's very easy to carry around. Not to mention the unlimited consecutive shots feature, which is great during a sporting event. However, there were a few drawbacks. Even though Panasonic claims to have a shutter lag of .008 seconds, the lag is more like .2 seconds, which still isn't bad for a digital camera. There is also no RAW mode, which is disappointing because I am all about the clarity and sharpness of the image. The menu is somewhat unintuitive, but I got over it pretty quickly. I also noticed that sometimes the image turns out almost looking like a watercolor painting in some parts, which bugs me a lot.
All in all the camera is great for amateurs and beginners, but not so much for a professional or a snob like me.
