Versatile, flexible, with sharp, vivid images

by pat_the_cat , Dec 20 '08
Pros: Well designed controls, bounce flash for natural-looking portraits and candids, fast, sharp lens.
Cons: Large machine with its included lens, slow low-light autofocus.
I've been using this camera for about 4 months and have put it through its paces shooting landscapes along the California coast, candids at work, night scenes in town and shooting fairly fast-moving events indoors. My previous SLR was a Minolta ...

Like a babe in the woods.....

Pros: Superior quality. Lens, electronics, features.
Cons: High cost to many.
I've had my L1 for a little over a month. My previous cameras included my "main" camera, being a Leica M2 (1963 to 1999), a couple of earlier Leica models, an original Leicaflex, a Kodak twin-lens reflex, a Canon F1 and Rebel "G", an old Vivitar w/ ...

Professional quality

Pros: The lens, and analog controls.
Cons: I can't think of any.
I bought the Lumix L1, and the results are professional grade. This is basically the same camera as the Leica Digilux 3, for half the price.

I can make 11x14 prints, that are exhibition quality.

I am a pro level photographer, and I prefer it to Canikon. The Leica branded zoom is superior to other glass, and the main reason I bought it. Also, the traditional shutter speed and aperture dials make it easier to use. It has two custom function buttons. The included raw converter gives excellent results.
