A good quality camera for the money that doesn't require a rocket scientist to operate.

by slick-smiley , Apr 02 '06
Pros: Outstanding battery usage! Great photo quality! Good movie recording with sound. 6x optical zoom.
Cons: No camera case or a/c power supply included. Slightly pricey for 6mb camera.
Review: This is the second digital camera I've bought in the last couple days, the last one I had was a disastrous waste of my time so I expected the worst when I bought this one - I was proven wrong and my faith in the digital world ...

Since when are 'AA' cells good?

by larwe , Dec 26 '06
Pros: Optical zoom is very nice. Fast. Movie mode is very good.
Cons: Horribly restrictive battery options make this camera either expensive or annoying to operate.
I received this camera for free as part of a credit card offer, so I hopefully approached it without bias. (I did, however, read a few reviews before I started using it). I'll start with what I like about the camera. The 6x optical zoom is just ...

Cons: No onboard speaker or headphone jack to hear what the audio
This camera works great! Breathtaking sharp well exposed pictures. I will never buy another camera that doesn't use AA batteries! So many times I needed a camera quick for impromptu shots only to find the proprietary rechargeable battery depleted & ...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 = Great buy!

by smellyhippie , Sep 09 '08
Pros: 6x optical
image stabilizer
long battery life
various shooting modes
video+audio recording
AV output
Cons: kind of big
slightly darkened corners when zoomed all the way out
kind of heavy
For 150 bucks, it doesn't get better than this. It has 6x optical zoom, up to 24x digital, and 6 megapixel CCD with a great image stabilizer. You can set the aspect ratio to 4x3, 3x2, or 16x9 for good landscapes photos. Supports ISO 80 - 400. Records ...

My first digital camera

by kristenrae , Apr 26 '08
Pros: Price, durability, ease of use, 6x optical zoom
Cons: Large size, weight, and shutter lag
After a lot of research, I made the decision to purchase the Lumix DMC-LZ5 camera. My favorite thing about this camera is that it has 6x optical zoom. The other cameras that I looked at in this price range couldn't top that and considering digital zoom ...

Pros: 6x Zoom

Good pictures
Nice menus
Cons: Shutter lag (more than others)

I purchased this camera to replace an ailing Sony that I loved. The features that attracted me were the AA batteries, 6x OPTICAL zoom, large display, and the Panasonic name. First let me tell you about that:--AA batteries--Not sure how many photos ...

A perfect travel and all-purpose camera

by moore2772 , Aug 03 '06
Pros: Good battery life, AAs, long zoom, image stabilization, size, weight, controls
Cons: Somewhat noisy images at high ISOs in low light.
I bought this camera (the black version of the LZ5) for an extended trip to Europe to supplement my larger Lumix super-zoom. The size and weight make it ideal for travel. Easy to hold, no lens cap to lose, sharp pix, even in very low light, thanks to the ...

Pros: Amazing picture quality, video recording, advanced settings and scene modes, no blur on any pictures.
Cons: No speaker on the camera.
This camera takes amazing pictures! I bought the camera at Best Buy because I needed a new camera, (my old one was a 2MP Fujifilm) one that had optical zoom, optical image stabilization and a large LCD screen. There are many different advanced settings ...

Died
by mfguru ,Aug 06 '07
Pros: Good Zoom. Uses AA batteries.
Cons: Unreliable. Panasonic service is too expensive.
I bought this camera about a 18 month ago. The pictures were good although not the best I have seen. Then it died unexpectedly. The batteries were running low and when we tried to squeeze one last shot out of the camera is froze up. I put in new batteries but it is still locked up. When I called tech support, they said to reset the camera or send it in for service at a minimum charge of $261. I didn't pay this much for the camera and my reset did not fix the problem
