BUYER BEWARE

Pros: ease of use, price, Cons: picture quality in long play mode, battery life, quality, warranty.
Watch out on this camera, if you need service after (90) days, it will cost you a minimum of $150.00 plus shipping.I bought this camera for my wife as a gift, after very little use 8 months later, it was making grinding noises while taping, and during playback. The playback picture had lines through the bottom of the picture, and the entire picture jumped up and down vertically. When I called Panasonic, they informed me that the warranty was only 90 days on labor, and 1 year on parts. FLAT RATE LABOR CHARGE IS $150.00, PLUS SHIPPING. Will never buy Panasonic again. In contrast, my previous camcorder was a Sony, which lasted 9 years. Yes, it was more expensive, but they all were back then.

Overall easy to use, better than comparable JVC we used. Not as easy or as good as older VHSC Panasonic we have. Picture quality not as good as either one. Older Panasonic did not have digital Telephoto but JVC did and was much sharper in digital mode than Panasonic. Fade modes more limited also. Over all however Panasonic easer to use, button spacing better, than JVC.
