The DVD player you can use anywhere. DVDL50 Portable DVD Player

by roymeo , Feb 22 '01
Pros: Portable and powerful
Cons: I couldn't see using it alone that often.
This unit was purchased for my workplace as a testing unit for the DVD's we produce. When I purchased my first DVD (the Residents' Icky Flix) I borrowed it for the weekend to play with the DVD. The unit also claims to play CD's and Video CD's. It does...

Cute and practical

by tilbrook , Dec 15 '02
Pros: Tiny, versatile, great "gosh wow" factor
Cons: Not for the serious videophile. Could use another internal speaker.
Time was, the whole point behind portable electronics was to make them as small as possible. Remember how cool it was to have a Walkman the size of a cassette case, or a Discman not much larger than a CD? Then display screens got involved. Now there's...

I just don't get it. What is the point?

by stevelarrison Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jun 03 '00
Pros: Neat toy, the portability and quality are impress
Cons: Price. Who really needs a portable DVD anyway
OK, if you don't know by now, I will help you out. I admit that I am a technology freak. Aside from working in the computer field as a software developer, I build and overclock my own PCs, and am always messing with my home theater system, and in...

Pros: Good picture, great sound, convenience
Cons: Cost , PCs will catch up next year
Facing a week on the road, I borrowed this gadget from a frequent travelling friend of mine. Described elsewhere as a DVD walkman, the Palm Theatre allows you to play DVD movies wherever you might be. Weighing a touch over 2 pounds including the battery...

by gauldd01 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 05 '00
Pros: Bright Clear LCD Screen, Almost Limitless Features
Cons: Built-in Speakers of Medium quality
Panasonic's DVD-L50 Portable DVD Player is probably the best one on the market at the moment. The features are extensive and you can even use it as a double for your home DVD player if you don't want to buy a second one.

I recently purchased...

A handy item for movie addicts!

by artbyjude Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 25 '00
Pros: Portable, extremely versatile, great quality image!
Cons: Heavy with the battery charger, YET is not outdated at this editing!
I had been watching the specs on this item for several weeks, and made a lucky and timely bid on EBay to buy it for less than retail. In my recent travels, I have found few motels that have any kind of entertainment on cable that appeals to me. I have...

Movies Everywhere!

by rickcomerford , Nov 19 '00
Pros: You can watch a movie no matter where you are.
Cons: There are better screens out there on newer models
After spending the last two years viewing my DVD’s using a computer and a somewhat cumbersome connection to my television and amplifier, I finally decided to break down and buy a stand-alone DVD player for my home. I did the research, and with all of...

Big advance in technology, but little screen and little battery

by g2kdk , Jun 29 '01
Pros: Small, lightweight, portable entertainment that'll occupy the kids for 2 hours. Easy to use.
Cons: Limited battery life, be prepared to squint at times, one audio output jack.
THE YEAR: 2001
THE PRODUCT: Panasonic's DVDL50 Portable DVD player
THE QUESTION: Is America really ready for technology of this caliber?

The experience I've had handling Portable DVD players is touchy. People in Europe, Asia, and...

Pros: Easy to transport, great sound quality through headphones, very versatile
Cons: Unit heats up quite a bit after extended play

CARRY A THEATER WITH YOU!

by ConnCarl , Mar 25 '01
Pros: The Rolls-Royce of personal entertainment devices.
Cons: Poorly designed controls, tinny speakers, very expensive batteries.
The most common criticism I've heard of this product is that it is an "expensive toy". It surely is expensive, but if you give it to a child to play with, expect it to have a very short, if exciting life.

Heft it and turn it...

by currens , Dec 11 '99
Pros: portable, 16x9 widescreen, plays DVD/CD-R/CD, Lives up to its name as the "Palm Theater"
Cons: Video zooming causes artifacts, 3 hour battery, non-anamorphic video can be rather small
I was expecting to do some business travel in the near future, and I decided I needed a cool plane/hotel entertainment gadget to take with me...the Panasonic L50 looked like a worthy gadget for the job.

....boy was I right!
