Bought this unit 5 years ago. Went with the SA-HE200 because of reviews, had a phono jack, sounded good. Had great sound for that span. A previous reviewer stated that it runs warm and it does. We had to keep the door on the entertainment center open or it would overload. Two weeks ago the heat finally did it in. The finals of the amp are gone - looks like $50.00 for a pair.
I also had to resolder the Component video jacks a few years after I got it - an intermittent signal from the DVD player.
in short I was not real impressed with the workmanship but I work in electronics and most stuff seems to have solder problems (had to redo the power supply portion of my Hitachi TV as well and just redid a remote to get it working).

The SA-HE200 is a great home theatre receiver. I bought it over a year ago. The quality and value are outstanding! I'm using it to power a true 6.1 system for DVD, digital cable, and video games. The sound quality is great. No noise or distortion generated even at high volume levels. The output is sufficient for a 16x20 room. The optical inputs have zero problems. The component switching capability provides a great picture for progressive scan DVD and video game signals. It switches to DD EX and DTS ES automatically based on my DVD output. I've never had a receiver that was easier to set up.

Pros: 6.1 at an affordable price, amazing sound, lots of connectivity, sturdy
Cons: Instruction manual is unnesesarily complicated, no aux A/V output, thats about it

I've allways been a Panasonic fan but this is AMAZING. The cheapest similar featured amp I could find was well over doulbe the price of the SAHE-100 and when it came time to test it it PALED in comparrison to the SAHE-100.
I've had it for about 5 months now and have put it through some heavy testing with various types of media, it performs far beyond expectations with no technical problems at all.

Cons: Horrible Remote, No Mid Adjustment, No hi-low Adjustment in Surround, Hard to set up

Great receiver, I am running two of them powering Wharfedale, Infinity, and Advent speakers and it sounds amazing when using a graphic equalizer, and a decent DVD player or sound card.
It has plenty enough power for a typical 15x15 living room (I hit 110db in a 15x12 room with the subwoofer off).

Love this product. After spending the better part of the evening setting the thing up, it sounded really good. But, the manual is almost a complete waste of time. Panasonic..if you are listening...AN INDEX IS NEEDED FOR THE MANUAL. At least they offer a toll-free customer service line. But I would rather read about it myself. Lots of power and features for the money. I also have the JVC RX-9010VBK. The Panasonic outclasses it in power, features, and sound quality. Highly recommended, despite the wretched manual.

1st and foremost this receiver sounds terrific after you spend hours figuring out how to set it up...It has a phono jack which most companies have decided that we don't need anymore (how much extra would it cost to put one on a receiver)...This receiver has more features than most of us will use in a lifetime...Remote is one of the worst around with its tiny, tiny buttons and an illuminated button on the volume switch would have been a nice touch...I replaced an 11 year old Yamaha with this Panasonic and I hope that it holds up as well...I do like everything about the SA-HE200 though once you get past the remote and setup...It is a beautiful unit and as stated before, the price kicks just about everything out there with the same or similiar features. It has a whopping 130 watts per channel and really sounds great in a large room. If you can find it for $400 or less I highly recommend it.

This unit replaced a harman kardon pro-logic receiver. I wanted this because it had a phono input and a tape monitor loop. The sound quality is terrific. It's very easy to overdrive the amp especially when playing cd's while using a graphic equalizer. I really like listening to music in surround sound. In most of the surround modes you cannot turn the base and treble up or down, only when your in stereo.When I play a movie through this, the tape monitor cannot be used so my equalizer is useless. This is a good receiver so it gets frustrating to have those little quirks I mentioned. If you can deal with those, you'll love this receiver. Forget the manual, it really falls short in information. Sound quality and price are it's biggest selling points. It may still be worth it. I would recommend this receiver but would tell them about the little flaws and leave it up to them.

This receiver meets all the requirements I was looking for: phono input, high current because I have a pair of 6-ohm Polk front speakers, power, decoding formats, speaker control for different input source (I have a karaoke machine that I don't want any surround sound fedback), ... And the price was irresistable when a local store had a special one day sale for less than $300! It products great clean sounds, particularly when using digital source from a DVD machine. As all other reviewers point out, its manual is almost useless. There are still many terms I don't know what they mean and setups that I don't know how to do. The information display, for example, FM station now playing, is too small to see across a small room. I also hate its remote control (need to pull a cover to access certain functions and not really universal--too few useful keys for other brands).

This is a very good receiver for the money you spend! Lots of Goodies and features! With that had been said, the Panasonic SAHE 200 is not a easy unit to set up or comprehend. On a scale of 1 - 5 (5 being best) I give it a 1 for ease of setting up! Manual is almost useless, but I do have to admit, it is a great looking receiver with pleanty of connections for all those additions to the Home Theatre! The Sony STR-DB 840 is a simple and very easy receiver to use, but since Sony has dropped the DB line and only manufacture this grade of receiver for their ES line, the comparitive model to the Panasonic is way out of my price range when looking at the 6.1 feature! The Panasonic Remote is a little outdated and the buttons are small. With the money you have saved from buying this receiver you can go out and buy one of those Fancy remotes with the touch screens! This receiver is recommended!
