waste of money

by kinsiderby , Nov 07 '01
Pros: It works, easy to use, compact, plays RWs, high sound quality
Cons: Allergic to the cold, No ID3, no seeking, can skip, no accessories, headphones.
Why I bought this player

My Walkman was starting to wear out. Changing tapes was also a hassle. So I decided to upgrade my portable audio.

I compared the options. A CD player requires changing the discs every hour or so,...

Pros: Car Kit, long battery life
Cons: Skips, locks up, no ID3 tag support, no VBR support, poor owner's manual
I purchased this CD player a few days ago and I'm going to send it back for a refund. I bought it because it seemed to be good quality (based on the specs) and had a long battery life compared to other players. Actually,I found out later that the battery...

Panasonic mp3/CD player

by brychen , Nov 28 '01
Pros: No skipping, solid sound quality, came with car kit.
Cons: poor quality headphone, lack of functions.
This model SL-MP50 came with car kit, I bought it from J&R online just few days after it became available. It is light and the buttons on the player feel very solid. Owning it for little over two month now, so far so good. Also, this player can play...

My first Portable MP3 player

by chippe01 , Nov 16 '01
Pros: More compact than most, good sound quality, album mode
Cons: Heavy skipping with High Bitrate MP3, no seek for MP3, no ID3tag or playlist support.
I'd give this an average overall rating. Sound quality is pretty good with the right earbuds. the unit plays fine with MP3 files at 192Kbps and lower, but seems to suffer from heavy skipping, and poor battery life at higher bit rates. I encode...

Farts when you play MP3s!!! :-O

by bravoxena , Apr 20 '03
Pros: Long battery life, great sound quality, very durable
Cons: BAD mp3 playing
I got this CD player because of its mp3 support, but I soon found out that it wasn't so good with mp3s after all. Playing mp3s would spend 300% of the power it would spend playing a regular CD and there was a delay when loading songs. Later on through...

Barebone MP3 Player

by deejaybee , Jun 27 '02
Pros: Reliable playback of all CD's and CDR's, Car Kit
Cons: Bad headphones, low power amp.
Does everything I needed a portable MP3 player to do. Sounds good and has played every audio and MP3 CD I have put in it. Most MP3s are at 192bps encoded using MusicMatch.

Amplifier is a bit weak, I use it into the Aux input in my Car Receiver...

Some words of advice....

by alwali1975 , Apr 14 '03
Pros: None.
Cons: Many. Battery life terrible w/MP3s, lock-ups, etc.
Do NOT buy it. The other reviewers got it right, it constantly locks up on many MP3s if it doesn't like them for whatever reason. But if your a chump like me and bought the POS without researching beforehand, then here is what you can do: go to Best...

Where should i start......basically the thing is an overpriced ($140us) piece of crap. It frequently skips, theres no ID3 tag support. It has a random function which works fine while playing regular CDs but with MP3cds the thing will play the same song 3 times in a row when there are 200 songs on the disk. Battery life is ok though.
