Burn-in already?!

by jdproconsumer , Jul 26 '05
Pros: Great value, connectivity, features.
Cons: Fast burn in! Slow channel switching. Sub-par user interface.
I bought this Panasonic EDTV for $1,800 about 4 months ago and have been fairly satisfied with it overall. I think it's a great value for the money and offers a good combination of features, quality and value. But I do have a few issues to point out. ...

Very good deal for a flat panel plasma

by mrsginc , Oct 24 '06
Pros: Lots of features and I/O connectors, top-notch picture at a great price.
Cons: Highly reflective screen surface, average sound, no P-in-P, inelegant remote.
My husband and I had been researching flat panel tvs for about a year and were still undecided about what and when to buy. When our 10-year-old 35" RCA CRT finally blew the convergence board and power supply all at once, it was time to leap off the ...

Freakin' Sweet !!!

by rayt208 , Jan 25 '06
Pros: Picture quality, reasonable price, plenty of inputs.
Cons: No adjustable aspect ratio on HD signals.
Finally after over six months of research it’s my turn to write a review of this TV. Like many of you I started by trying to decide between LCD, Plasma, or DLP. For me LCD was the first to go because of price mainly but also the black levels just ...

Great picture, outstanding value for a 42" plasma set

by stuarth , Mar 05 '06
Pros: Clear picture, great color, intuitive controls, great design
Cons: A covered, front mounted video input would be a nice feature.
12/20/08 Update- We have retired this set to our son's room after upgrading to a 50" Panasonic model.  Nothing wrong with this one, but due to the viewing distance of 15'-18', a larger screen was in order.  Although the 1080p replacement set ...

Great buy

by plasmauser , Dec 02 '05
Pros: Great resolution for analog channels, Great Price and looks
Cons: No A/V input on the front or sides
Like many other reviewers here, I did a lot of research on Plasma TVs. I almost decided to go for LCD TVs since I feared about the extra power consumption by Plasma TVs. However, I then realized that it would only cost me additional $2 per month if I ...

This Amazing "E" Outdoes the "H's"

by gdabomb , Aug 24 '05
Pros: EVERYTHING about the picture! Easy to use, logical, useful menus and remote.
Cons: Hot in a smaller room. No universal remote will control this, typical of Panasonic
When I saw this model side by side with much more expensive HD's, I could not believe it was "only" an Extended Definition set. Through the gray scale (thousands)and/or contrast ratio (4000-1), Panasonic has managed to out do the H with the E! One ...

Can't beat it

by plasfan , Jan 05 '06
Pros: Exceptional tuner Outstanding picture
Cons: No VGA connection No PIP
I bought this TV for a 2nd home after a long search. I had originally focused only on LCD, but included plasma later in the search because prices had come down sufficiently. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a TV I'll watch no more than 8 weeks ...

Overall, very happy with this TV

by thelyons , May 29 '05
Pros: Picture quality, ease of use, looks. At $2,100 it is a great value.
Cons: I have not been able to find anything about this tv set.
This is my first plasma tv and I did quite a bit of research before deciding on this make and model. I purched the set from Sound Advice and had a really great buying experience. The salesperson was extremely knowledable and helpful. Now onto the set. ...

Sound problems already!
by rgarr ,Sep 18 '06
Pros: It was supposed to be the best TV
Cons: Major Sound problems after 6mo
We ordered this the Panasonic TH42PD50U before Christmas of 2005. The store told us it would take two weeks, which we were fine with. Long story short and many phone calls later we finally got our TV in February of 2006. We were told that this TV was in very high demand and that they were making them as fast as they could. Not the words you want to hear when you are buying a new tv. Our sound started messing up in August and now we don’t have any. The repair guy came out to replace the “board” and once he got it in the TV was not working correctly. After messing around and putting in the old “board” they realized that the new one was broken. So now we wait. It is just very scary that we are already having trouble with this darn TV. Who knows what is next!

Great Bargain Plasma TV...
by ctexaco ,Oct 30 '05
Pros: TV is top quality... among the best out there for a great bargain price.
Cons: Does not have the extra features as some of the other TVs in same category.
If you are looking for a quality plasma television at a great price, then look no more. Panasonic is an industry leader in manufacturing superb plasma TVs and this particular model is no exception. I purchased my TV about three weeks ago for around $1,800. When deciding which set to purchase, I looked at two factors... price and picture quality. The price is great for the size of the screen and the picture quality is second to none. I couldn't find a better picture on any other set... even the more expensive models. Although this set lacks some of the fancy features that come with some of the other expensive models (i.e. picture-in-picture) you have to ask yourself if these features are worth the extra cash. For me, it wasn't. I look at this TV as having everything that you need and nothing that you don't need, and that is why you get such a great plasma at such a great price.

Panasonic TH-42PD50U 42 in. EDTV Plasma Television
by teedoff ,Jul 01 '05
Pros: Picture quality and price.
Cons: Remote and sound could be better.
I purchased this set about three weeks ago. The picture quality is top-rate! A standard hook-up from my digital cable box is all I am using at the present and the picture is magnificent. I'll have the quality cables shortly but can't imagine the picture being better. The sound is ok, but through a sound system it is incredible. The remote could be better.

Great TV
by roadrunner5432 ,Aug 12 '05
Pros: Great picture and sound.
Cons: None
In the store it looked great, I brought it home and it didn't. After reading through the manual (easy, nice manual) I discovered all the options, after adjusting it to my satisfaction, I have to say this is the best picture I've seen out there! The Hi-Def channels are eye-popping. The built in surround sound just blows us away. I put in a concert DVD, and I thought I was at the concert!
Very happy with this purchase!

Big Bang
by jksharkbyte ,Aug 11 '05
Pros: Great sound, gets very loud and remains clear. Picture is amazing for great price.
Cons: None that I can see yet.
We've had our Panasonic 42" now for a couple weeks and have been extremely pleased with our purchase. I have digital cable and there are a few channels that have HD broadcasts and the images are amazing. DVD's look absolutely stunning and the surround sound produced is very impressive. Normal TV broadcasts look very nice as well. Using component video cables, the image is fairly crisp. We bought ours at Best Buy and got a great deal on it.
See the review done on this unit http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/plasmatvreviews/panasonic-th42pd50u-review.html. They did a great and accurate job in stating the facts.
For the money, there are very few units that can compare.

The best bang for the buck
by fenderfan ,Dec 26 '05
Pros: Picture quality all the way
Cons: Not all the bells and whistles of the more expensive units But...Who needs them?
We went to the stores a couple of weeks ago to buy an Hdtv. When we seen the awesome picture quality of this Edtv plasma we were sold.It looked better than the more expensive Hdtv's, and this store had quite a selection.Got it home, and this picture is just stunning.Running with component cables, thru my dish 811 hd reciever. If you are a movie buff like i am, this is the tv for you.Dvd's with either Hdmi or component cables look fantastic.A friend of mine has a $4000 50" brand name Hd plasma and couldn't believe this was an Edtv. But with such a high contrast ratio 4000/1,and the built in astc, ntsc tuner, you can get 10810i,720p on this unit.No wonder it's rated #1 for the Edtv class plasma's

The best buy in televisions today
by kingpenm3 ,Jan 04 '06
Pros: Beautiful, great price, all of the features you need.
Cons: Not setup for computer use.
This tv has all of the wow factor that you can imagine. Everyone that sees the tv cannot believe how amazing it looks. Then I tell them that I am getting the programming from a simple set of rabbit ears. This tv always gets my attention when I look at it in stores. The colors are great. The HD tuner is perfect. I have no complaints at all. Great TV.
