Pros: Lots to do, great for the kids and adults Cons: Food is pricey, Casino does have high minimums.
We were a party of 6 that recently stayed at Harborside at Atlantis. We did a trade on another timeshare to get our room. I had read so many reviews about Atlantis and Harborside and found them very helpful so I felt compelled to write one as ...
Pros: Friendly people, as relaxing as you want it to be. Cons: The smell of garbage near some of the hotels.
Date of visit: Jan 2005 UPDATED 1/18/05 After several comments from readers I have added the following: Most people wanted to know what they can do and where they can eat on Paradise Island. WHAT YOU CAN DO: Besides the parasailing and ...
Pros: BEAUTIFUL CLEAN CLEAR BEACHES, WATER IS SPECTACULAR!! Awesome exhibits. Hammocks are comfy, plenty of them. Cons: ONE VERY OVERPRICED SNACK BAR
Beach Photographer can be annoying.
We went to the Bahamas on Carnival cruise lines, and we docked in Nassau. We then took a ferry to the Island. At the island all was extremely quiet. On the way over we had a little old man selling conch shells off his little rowboat for $2. He was so...
Pros: BVV and the waters. Cons: Smelly. Locals harrassed 16yr old daughter verbally when ever we went out.
Just returned from a family vacation to Paradise Island, Bahamas. Two adults and 3 children ages 16, 14 and 7. The first thing we noticed when we stepped out of the Nassau International Airport (absolute worst airport I have ever been in) was the ...
Pros: The beach, food, people, drinks! Cons: Pricey food and crazy cabbies!
I went to Paradise Island in March 2005 and stayed for 8 days. It was the most amazing experience. I explored parts of the Bahamas that I never would have known because I stayed with a Bahamian family. Paradise Island has breathtaking beaches and very ...
Paradise Island - Cross between Mexico and Spring Break Trips by mytoosents ,Apr 28 '05
Pros: All-inclusive food varied. Atlantis casino Plenty of water activities. Cons: Too Windy. Staff at RIU hotel was neutral to hostile toward the guests.
I visited Paradise Island in March 2005 and stayed at the newly remodeled RIU. We had read complaints about the food selection and quality which I must say wasn't a problem at all. We enjoyed all-inclusive service and the meals were plentiful and varied. The service however left a bad taste in our mouth and we felt very much like we were looked at as annoying American tourists. The overall mood of the staff (sans the housekeeping crew who were in great spirits)made you feel as if you were putting them out with your request whether it was ordering a drink, asking for directions, or looking for an ATM. The rooms were also a bit "run down". Overall, we did not get the same feeling of relaxed atmosphere and warm tropical climate like we did in Jamaica and Riviera Maya, Mexico. I'd recommend those places over PI at this stage. The Atlantis Casino next door was very nice and gave us a break from our hotel.
Pros: food fantastic (atlas, anthony's, bimini, pool restaurants) courteous people, so much to do Cons: airport personnel very rude
Visited Paradise Island late June, 2008. I must say it was far and above anything I ever expected and I expected a lot! We loved the people of the bahamas who treated us with such friendliness and happiness to be sharing their Island with us. We stayed at Comfort Suites (nice, make sure you stay in the new part) but we spent our entire vacation at Atlantis and had the time of our lives. (My husband and I along with our 2 teenage daughters.) There's so much to do and see. We swam with the dolphins (do it), spent our afternoons at the natural habitats, lazy river (which was anything but lazy) so much fun, snorkelled and loved the perfect conditions of the ocean. The trip by ferry into town (straw market) was enjoyable and informative. Our meals were excellent but I recommend splitting some entrees no matter where you go because the portions are huge. We didn't have a bad meal. The airport personnel are very rude though so don't let that throw you as you're coming or going. I recommend this vacation to all ages.
Glorified waterpark. All waterslides and beaches close at 7:00, so in you go to spend in the boutiques and casino. One liter water bottle $11.50, Margarita $14.00! We won't even talk about the food prices. Could be in Disneyland or Vegas for all you know once you are there no true Bahamiam experience, other than obviously every employee is a local. Ubsurdly pricey! Can do and see all the same things in Seaworld San Diego for about 10% the cost. No worth it! Don't recomment it!
