  • Vintage Tube Tones at a Reasonable Price

Feb 16, 2007 by buffoonery is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Musical Instruments
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Good tight tube blues/rock tones
Cons: Be careful which version you're buying

Summary: Peavey amps have carved out a solid name for themselves in recent years, especially in the high gain/metal arena with products like the very popular 5150 (a metal stand-by) and the more modern Triple XXX, Joe Satriani JSX, and the ... read more

  • What a deal for such a great amp the PEAVEY CLASSIC 30

    Jun 26, 2007 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Great tone, volume, low end and overall sound quality and reliability and vintage look.
Cons: SOUND diminished playing outside. Gets a little noisy and hot.

Summary: I recently picked up a fairly new Peavey Classic 30 from a buddy at work. Not being much of a musician and getting it from a friend in a pinch for some small cash, he sold it to me for $50 yes fifty dollars and included a 15 watt Charvel practice amp! I ... read more

  • A workhorse with old world charm.

    Jan 7, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Price, reliability, tone.
Cons: Factory standard tubes don't do it justice.

Summary: I bought my classic 30 in March 2004. Peavey was ditching their Australian distributor and it was a case of "everything marked down to half price - all stock must go". Prior to this fire sale the street price here was AU$1,350 or about US$1,000, a price ... read more

  • Got The Solid State Blues? Try The Peavey Classic 30 Combo

Jun 24, 2003 by sparkospunky is a Lead on Epinions in Musical Instruments
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Small, sturdy, cheap, great vintage tube sound
Cons: Tubes take a few seconds to warm up

Summary: My utility amp for the past couple of years has been the Peavey Transformer 112 Combo, and for the most part I've been pretty satisfied with its performance. I'm not much of a technician (I just know basically where to plug it in), so the amp was ... read more

  • You can't beat the sound and features for that price.

    Feb 15, 2002 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Great overall sound; a real workhorse
Cons: No standby switch or headphone jack

Summary: If you like the warm tube amp sound, this amp is for you ! It's a great value for the price, is compact and can get LOUD for a 30 watt amp. Has a lead channel switch and a boost switch. Has a preamp and post amp knob so you can ... read more

  • Best tube for the price range

    Aug 24, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Inexpensive(for tube), powerful for it's size.
Cons: No headphone jack. Never seen one on a tube amp, though.

Summary: I play an Epiphone Les Paul Standard (2001), a 1978 10th Anniversary Model Ovation acoustic and a Seagull 12 string acoustic. I use a Dimarzio Elemental soundhole (portable) pickup in the acoustics. I have owned two Peavey Classic's in the ... read more

  • The Best Peavey Amp

    Feb 16, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Cheap, great sound, light weight, classic look
    Cons: Peavey logo

Summary: The 5150 is ok for a cheap Marshall replacement, good for metal. But the Classic 30 is actually a really good sounding amp. It's sort of it's own thing, which is great; Peavey finally stumbled upon something good. The amp has a ... read more

  • Only Thing better Than This Amp, Is The Classic 50

    Jan 15, 2005 by
    Rated Show
Pros: Best Overall Sound For Superb Tone and Richness.
Cons: Could use another Master Volume to control both channels simultaneously.

Summary: I just bought a used Peavey Classic 30 (2 Channel) for $300 and I'm so excited with this amp. It's got 7 tubes of sweet creamy tone, that sounds like hot caramel being poured out of your speaker. I used to play through a 50 watt Marshall solid state. ... read more
