Absolutely worth the read

Pros: Art, story, morals, knowledge Cons: Series is too short!
Warning: Nudity, Shounen-Ai, blood, death, gore
A cousin of mine lent me the first book at a family reunion, and I was instantly hooked. The stories are fun, intriguing, and have a dark kind of lesson to them, kind of like the original Brothers Grimm fairy-tales.
At the end of every novel, there's a "Pet Catalogue" which has interesting tidbits about all the animals used in the stories. Full of fun information!
It's well translated also, the language flows beautifully, it doesn't seem awkward, or disjointed from the artwork at all.
The artwork is absolutely beautiful, Akino's costume design is mindblowing. I know my hand would have fallen off by the end of the first book, inking all of those beautiful details. Ten books in all, and I was incredibly sad when they were done. I still re-read them, they're fun.
