Pros: Close shave, nice travel case, lightweight. Cons: High price/value ratio, non-adjustable shave height, narrow trimmer, "feels" cheaply made.
In my opinion, Philips/Norelco really blew it with the advent of their new arcitec 1050 shaver. My wife purchased this for me as a replacement for my lost Smart Touch 9160 XL. The high points include a really close shave, large ...

Pros: rotating head Cons: just slightly better than average shave, so over priced & bulky cleaner, AVOID
I got this thing in November and it gave me the same shave, (or slightly better if i spent 10 plus minutes working on it) as I had been getting for years with other shavers. I got on their site and asked for help. I was told to just give it 3 weeks for ...

Pros: good charge hold time easy cleaning option Cons: bad head design bad trimmer placement not enough bang for your Buck
I have tried many electric shavers and felt that this product should be fairly nice for all the hype it claims it can do. I wasn't pleased with it at all and considering the price I was even more unhappy with this purchase.I have had many other shavers ...

Poor Shaving, Much Improved Cleaning System
by usa18 ,Feb 12 '08
Pros: Cleaning System Highly Improved Cons: Poor Overall Shaving,Many Passes Needed,Poorly Designed Trimmer
The only thing that Norelco improved with it's new Arcitec
Shaver, is its Cleaning System. Finally Norelco has caught up with it's competitors with the Arctitec Cleaning System
which unlike its previous models, lets you know when the cleaning is done,as well it drys the shaver.
However, one does not buy a shaver solely for its cleaning system!
The shaver leaves many "patches" of stuble. One has to shave
as many as 3 passes to get a smooth clean-cut shave.
The hair-chambers that collect the shavings are quite small,so if you have a heavy stuble, the shaver will not
be able to accomidate it!
I think that Norelco should go back to the drawing board
and make some major modifications to this shaver.
1)It should offer a "pivot-lock" like Braun & Panasonic
do.
2)It should double or triple the size of the hair collection chamber.
3)It should re-design the trimmer,it's present design makes it very awkward and cumbersome to use,its situated
too close to the shaver heads.

Hate it!
by jmgaud ,Feb 18 '08
Pros: Good shave. Cons: Awkward design. Head falls off.
I have used a Phillips/Norelco shaver for over 20 years and love the shave. I had to try their new shaver. But this package is not good. The shave is good but design is awkward to use. The straight body actually hurts my hand to use. The head keeps falling off so i must be careful about how I hold it. The head just pushes into the body and is held in too lightly. I am back to my old Spectra 8894XL.

The Head falls off Arcitec 1050 all the time
by gavan ,Jul 05 '08
Pros: It looks great. Cons: The blades do not stay on.,
When the blades stays on you get not a bad shave, however it falls off at least 4 times when I am shaving. This is a very bad design feature, I have uses Philips shavers for many years this one looks good but it does not work very well.
