Pros: Nice computer monitor; decent HDTV set; good array of inputs; decent audio Cons: You'll need cables; SD images are blah; needs tweaking for best images
Note: This review is for a Magnavox 19MF337B LCD HDTV, which is identical to a Philips 19MF337B. Both are made by the same company and differ only in the name on the face of the TV. I checked with an Epinions Category Lead for Electronics prior to ...

Pros: Nice easy to use remote, great picture at all angles. Cons: Not much. Industrial sized power cord.
Technically speaking this is a late model HDTV. I have 4 TV's in my home (that's probably 3 too many)and have been playing with the Analog to Digital Converter boxes. Those are indeed a challenge and decided that I would just start rotating out the tube ...

Disappointment
by ooch1966 ,Feb 10 '08
Pros: Review says it all Cons: Review says it all
Philips DOES NOT stand behind product! Bought brand new in May of 07, stopped working in Jan 08. Will not power on. Plug & unplug resets for a few minutes, then it crashes. Called Philips customer service. Would replace if I paid $200.00! That is robbery! 9 months old just stops working! No recourse, junk. Please beware, and if you must purchase, get an extended warranty.......you'll need it!

Amazing buy
by nlh87 ,May 05 '07
Pros: Flawless image; HD tuner; lightweight Cons: None
I purchased this TV for my son, who has a plethora of devices that could use it. We were floored. This thin, beautifully-designed LCD shows flawless, deep color images from a DVD player and games. Best of all, it has two TV tuners, an analog one AND an HD one, so that we were able to pick up about 60 cable HD stations that we had never seen before. The quality of the image is amazing. It also has, uniquely as far as I know, a VGA input which we connected to a PDA with terrific results. The remote is easy to use, and includes the ability to freeze the picture. Outstanding buy - we purchased ours at Sam's Club for $284.

DO NOT BUY THIS TV
by pmr1234 ,Aug 14 '08
Pros: I really really really really really really really really really really cannot think of one. Cons: See above description. I feel it is too small for my bedroom.
I have this same model. It was only 10 months old when it started screeching, turning on and off by itself. I called and got the same "scripted" excuse saying the warranty expired after 90 days. I went to the Magnavox site and downloaded the Owner's Manual. It states on page 36 that if the product was a replacement or refurbished product the warranty is 90 days other than that it is one year. They tried to tell me that I would have to pay $275 for a replacement. I asked to talk to a supervisor. I finally got it through her head that the warranty is 1 year NOT 90 days as I purchased a new TV. Fight until you get a replacement. They are giving false information. Make sure you read the warranty. If the clause gives and 'or' clause you have a loop hole to benefit from!!

by jeepers06 ,May 04 '09
Pros: great for 10 months Cons: 10 months
The only last 10 months, then power supply croaks, no service from Phillips. Went from being the best TV's when US Built to the very worst from China.

Don't buy it.
by gibsoncd ,Dec 17 '08
Pros: Nice picture. Good price. Easy to use. Cons: Reliability bad.
Mine went bad after 13 months. It makes a screeching sound and then the screen goes blank. You lose the use ofthe remote during this time. Then you have to unplug it and it will reset itself. It does this one a night. Sometimes twice. It was out of warranty.

Huge disappointment
by kkayou ,Oct 06 '09
Pros: Nice picture, easy setup Cons: Not a long term product -- major problems after only 18 months!
I bought this TV on sale from Best Buy in December 2007 for $300. I had no problems at all until 4 months ago - all of a sudden there was a lot of static when first turning the TV on.
Two weeks ago, when turning the TV on, it started making a loud "screeching" noise and turning itself on and off -- it does this 4-5 times before finally staying on. If you turn it off, then turn it back on 10 minutes later, it goes thru the whole process AGAIN. Needless to say, neither Magnavox's website or customer service provided any help at all. The customer service rep's said it sounds like an "internal problem" and since it's out of warranty (only 90 days), my best shot would be calling a TV repair shop to see if it's worth fixing. He thought it would be cheaper to buy a new tv!
Magnavox knows that this is a problem with these tv's (the rep wasn't surprised when I explained my problem) -- many people have complained of the same exact problem, yet they refuse to help.
What a waste of $300.00!!! Buyers beware!!!

Warning! Do Not Buy This TV!
by stacieo926 ,Jul 25 '09
Pros: None! Cons: Everything!
We purchased this television from Sams Club in Dec. 07, it worked well until 14 months later. It has the same problems as reported on many of these reviews: turning of and on, screeching noises, crackling noises etc. This TV is not usable which I find absolutely unacceptable for a television that was only 14 months old at the time!!!! The customer service was even worse! When I told them the problems my tv was having, they put me on hold and then came back to tell me that I was the only person who has reported these problems. After reading these reviews that is apparently not a true statement! The representative gave me a service number to get my tv fixed. When I called the given number they were located in Maryland, we live in Pennsylvania. She also gave me a number in Virginia. When I called back they were unsympathetic and said the tv wasn't under warranty and my only option is to write a letter to the corporate office. This is my first and last Magnavox purchase! Do not buy this television, unless you only want to use it for about a year!!!
