Pros: -$5/mon unlimited landline
-No computer required; works like a cordless phone Cons: -Sometimes volume on handset can't go high enough
Introduction Being from the younger generation who grew up with cell phones, I've never had a landline. However, as I approach 30 years of age and am starting a family, I've realized that it's finally time. However, the thought of shelling out ...

Pros: No computer required. Easy to use menus. Stylish design. Cons: No printed manual.
The key selling point of the Philips VOIP841 (compared with most other cordless VOIP phones) is that it does not require a computer for making/receiving calls. The Skype software is integrated into the base station. All you require is an Internet ...

Great Quality VOIP phone
by gilmour_tom ,May 21 '07
Pros: Easy to set-up and use. Excellent sound Quality. Computerless. Cons: Pricey
This phone really works well with Skype. Its easy to set up, and the sound quality is great when using Skype-out to a landline; it sounds better than a cell-phone. I had issues with my computer sometimes getting blips or interruptions during a Skype-out call. With the Philips, I talked for 30 minutes without interruption or sudden disconnection (Thats been my longest conversation so far). My internet connection at home is a 3 megabit DSL line, and the base unit plugged into my router. I also have the $15/year unlimited U.S. calling plan from Skype. I use it primarily as my long-distance calling. Though the price is kinda high, we were able to use our Discover rewards gift card to get it from Sharper Image, taking $80 off the retail price. I recommend it for people who want to spend $15 a year on unlimited U.S. long distance and not have to hassle with a computer.

Its got real problems
by kauaifilmmaker ,Sep 04 '08
Pros: IP wireless phone Use's home line or Skype account. Doesnt need your PC Cons: Expensive, Buggy software crashes, no updates avail, slow
It crashes when you try to delete too many calls incoming or outgoing and when it crashes it has to be restarted and it will have all those calls you deleted back in memory (again) even though you just spent the last 20 mnutes removing them. There is no fix for it and it doesent allow you to delete them all at once. So you end up with a phone with a ton of calls on it. it sucks up battery power. Its slow. It often doesnt know whos calling you even though thier number is stored in the phone and your PC does recognize them. When someone else calls in while your on the line it will ring you, when skype goes to voice mail it will keep ringing (tormenting) you until you hang up, no choice. If you can put up with all that get one. If I would have known all the bugs before my 2 week return time I would have returned it. Would I buy it again, no way.
