Pros: smells divine; exfoliates very well; skin feels so soft and smooth
Cons: pricey; may be harsh for some; Limited Edition!
Update: December 2002 I e-mailed Philosophy Customer Service to ask if this product was a limited edition, would be back next Christmas or was a permanent addition to the line. At that time I was told it was only for the Holiday Season of 2002, for...

The Gingerbread Man Left Me Unsatisfied

by lucypiggie , Dec 10 '03
Pros: oil-free, plastic jar, does leave you feeling soft..but name me a salt scrub that doesn't?
Cons: doesn't smell like gingerbread (think gingerALE), minimal warming, salt forms a hard clump in jar.
I love sweet smelling body products and when I heard about Philosophy's The Gingerbread Man, I was excited. I love that smell of warm gingerbread cookies during the holidays, and the thought that someone had bottled that scent in a scrumptious body ...

Philosophy’s Gingerbread Man is Somewhat Lacking

by j_pearse98 , Apr 10 '04
Pros: Plastic tub; product rinses cleanly
Cons: Price; doesn't live up to Philosophy's claims
You’ve got to hand it to the people at Philosophy: they’ve certainly got the consumer pegged. With its thought-provoking sayings, simple packaging, and wide variety of products and fragrances, Philosophy has gained an almost cult-like following ...

Now That's My Kind Of Man!

by fraygirl , Dec 19 '02
Pros: Smells Wonderful, Works Wonders On Dry Skin
Cons: Self-Heating Didn't Work For Me, Limited Edition (Don't Get Too Attached!)
When I saw Philosophy’s latest (and, unfortunately, limited) body scrub offering called The Gingerbread Man, I knew that I had to try it. I’m a big sucker for all things ginger-y and spicy, so any willpower I may have had basically went out the...

Gingerbread Man is So-So
by honest4u ,Oct 17 '06
Pros: Lasts a very long time, easy to use, smells good, not oily
Cons: Too Expensive & Doesn't have a significant warming effect
The Gingerbread man is easy to use and doesn't make the shower or tub slippery, which is awesome! My only problem with the product is that it claims to have a warming sensation when used. To be honest, with the warm/hot shower water, the warming sensation from the scrub is hardly noticeable, if at all!

The smell was not at all what I expected, but it still smelled good. It smells more like true ginger, rather than an actual gingerbread bakery item.

I enjoyed the product while it lasted (which was a very long time), but I don't think I will buy it again. Body scrubs from other popular specialty bath and body stores work just as well and for a better price.

Watch out if you're sensitive
by emmajo ,Jan 11 '07
Pros: Smell
Cons: Painful if sensitive
I bought this for the smell. It does not smell like gingerbread, it smells like actual ginger. Very fresh and a little spicy. This is a salt scrub so if you are sensitive like me, watch out. I followed the directions and rubbed this on dry skin and it made me very red and irritated. It actually hurt and I had to hurry and wash it off. I tried to use it with water and it still bothered my skin. I'm sure it would be great for people who are not sensitive.

Wow! This Stuff is Amazing!
by auburnjenn ,Jan 23 '07
Pros: Works effectively, thick and rich formula
Cons: Bad for sensitive skin, expensive
This is an amazing product. I used the Gingerbread Man body wash from Philosophy and HATED it. In fact, I gave it away. I was unsure about this scrub, but thought I'd give it a try. I have never used anything that made my skin as smooth and soft as this product has.

The texture is very grainy and thick - it looks almost like molasses. I would advised people with sensitive skin, rashes, etc. NOT to use this product, however, as it is fairly harsh. With normal skin, it advises not to use more than once or twice a week.

You rub it on DRY skin for 1-2 minutes in a circular motion and rinse off. It is a little tough rubbing into the skin due to the extreme thickness of the scrub, but boy does it work! When rinsed off, my skin was silky smooth and soft. I was amazed.

This product is fairly pricey, but you can find it online for much cheaper. The tub will last a long time. Another great product from Philosophy!

The gingerbread man smells nasty!!!
by poz99 ,Nov 28 '05
Pros: texture is nice
Cons: smells like ginger, not gingerbread
I was really excited to get this as a gift last year, but was extremely disappointed with the smell. The advertisement says that it smells like gingerbread, but the container says that it smells like ginger-which is so nasty that I tried giving it to other people in my family. No one wants it-they don't like the smell either.
