Mall for the Rich
by bwydeli ,Jan 05 '04
Pros: Unique stores, Johnny Rockets, cool atmosphere
Cons: Expensive, too much traffic - not really worth the hassle
I have been to this mall several times. It is very nice and large. Lots of unique stores but for the most part this mall tailors to the higher income crowd. It does have a movie theater. It also has a nice food court with a Johnny Rockets. This is a great place to eat. It is like a fifties style diner (in a mall). Be sure to try the milkshakes - they are awesome!! There is plenty of parking but it is mostly in parking garages. Phipps Plaza is located in the Buckhead area just across from Lenox Square. I would go here again because it is cool to see new and different things.

The place to shop in the ATL
by jeff0 ,Mar 22 '05
Pros: Flawless, down to the parking.
Cons: Seems to be in a rut; mall needs to lease up more stores.
Phipps Plaza is awesome. Those who cry that it is expensive don't understand that exclusive stores on exclusive real estate aren't cheap. Yes it is expensive, and that is just the point; to keep the riff-raff out and across the street at Lenox or better still at Cumberland Mall or Gwinnett Place.

There is no better shopping to be found in the South, other than Miami/Coral Gables/West Palm Beach. Simply awesome shopping. Expensive, yes, in the "princess wing" (the Saks Fifth Ave wing) but every good mall has a princess wing. Phipps is now managed by Simon Properties, and more mainstream stores are finding home there. Could be good or bad, depending on who you ask.

If Gap kids, Florsheim, and Nordstrom are considered "expensive", Phipps is not the place for you. If you want to experience REAL "sticker-shock" and find REAL fashion that suits the movie/music "A list" who call Atlanta home/2nd home/3rd home, stick around. You just might learn a few things and rub elbows with the stars.
