Pros: Calibration microphone and MCACC, high power, feature packed, price, THX-2, A+B capable Cons: No HDMI connection, large size heavy weight, bulky complicated remote, runs hot at high volume
==================== MY SITUATION ==================== Shortly after purchasing 2 pairs of new Klipsch speakers, I found the limit of my old faithful 1995 model Pioneer VXS-454 5.1 AV receiver. Weighing in at 17 lbs and claiming 110-watts per ...
Pros: High power output, component upconversion, THX certification, programmable remote, auto calibration Cons: No 7.1 analog input, only 5.1; remote is not backlit
Introduction If you're reading this review, most likely you're looking for a high-quality surround sound receiver for your home theater system. I use the Pioneer VSX-1015TX-K (hereafter called 1015) as the audio/video hub for my home theater ...
Pros: Feature-filled, MCACC works wonders, gobs of power, fantasitc movie and music performance, quality construction Cons: At this price point, not a lot I can complain about
Once in a review for a high-powered class-D amplifier, an interesting metaphor was used; the product in question was likened to that tiny guy in the gym that can bench five times his weight. Well, a similar situation applies here, except the VSX-1015tx ...
Pros: Lots of features for the price. Cons: Complex setup, but probably no worse than other brands. Video functions quit working.
I bought this because I want to upgrade from my Pioneer 912K receiver. It's been working fine although the video upconversion and all video functions mysteriously stopped working one day. I don't know if it was a fluke or is a common problem with this ...
Pros: Dynamic range
Setup ease
Price
Current inputs Cons: No HDMI/DVI input
I set this unit up with all new cables. I was particularly fond of the component video out. It was nice to have a switchable video input/output for once that you could turn signal processing off and have pure signal, just switched to the audio input ...
Got it for under $400 @ Best Buy by mark956101957 ,Feb 09 '06
Pros: The above mentioned Cons: No HDMI in or output.
For under $400 you cannot get a better 7.1 receiver! The BB I went to will meet on line ad prices and I found one for $385. Well to top that off this receiver sounds great, has plenty of power and some really nice music and movie settings to bring some great sound to DVD's and CD's. Up converts to Component Video from S and Composite, has a 5 band equalizer! A great automatic calibration system built in along with the needed microphone. On screen display for further making set up that much easier. What else can I say. It does NOT have an HDMI in or output. So if you think you can do with out that I can NOT think of a better receiver..
Pros: 3 component input with 100mhz frequency. Built like a tank.THX 2 cerified . Cons: Details and sound-space are not as good as Onkyo SR702
I have owned Pioneer 1015tx for a while and I almost decided to keep it. Some forums even claim it's almost as good as Pioneer Elite 54t.
But after I got Onkyo SR702 from Circuit City.....I returened pioneer 1015tx.
The sound for 1015tx is loud and sounds pretty smooth for stereo and 7.1 channelf(way better than my old pioneer vsx-d608). But the details and soundspace are just not as good as Onkyo SR702. I even felt the SR702 which has only 100w per channel is more powerful than 1015tx.
Thought 1015tx is over $200 cheaper. I decided to returen it.
But if you only have around $450 budget. I would recommend it.
Pros: Same as all other reviews Cons: None that I can think of.
I purchased this receiver to replace an older Sony which lacked digital inputs. This is one of the best sounding systems for the price I paid. There are excellent surround settings, and has the advance features / adjustments to customize the sound to your liking.
A well though out AV receiver by tmh363 ,Feb 25 '06
Pros: Easy Setup - Flexible EQ - Detailed sound Cons: lack of phono input
remote is a bit complex
I bought this unit to replace a SONY STR-DE995 7.1 channel receiver. When using the Sony, I frequently ran out of gain when using digital inputs, the LFE management was limited to one fixed crossover point. Since I use home built speakers of
rather high efficiency that are not matched front and rear, the Sony's lack of eq was a real problem. The MCACC system on the VSX-1015 worked pretty well, although I had to override the speaker size settings for center and surrounds and then manually tweak the LFE crossover. The great thing is that the receiver has the options to do this and quite easily at that.
The upconversion from composite & s-video to component works
very well too. The sound is far more detailed than the Sony, and easily on a par with my old HK AVR30 Pro-logic receiver.
I do miss the phono input, but not too much- mostly I used it
to transfer LPs to VHS Hi-Fi tape anyway so it's not a big loss. The assignable digital inputs were very easy to set up as well. Kudos to Pioneer for a fine product at a great price.
