A Must Have For Budget Surround Sound

by aaron_collver , Sep 23 '02
Pros: Excellent sound quality, plenty of features and easy to set up and use.
Cons: Almost 50 buttons on the remote may intimidate some.
The Pioneer VSX-D411 comes with operating instructions that explain the basics of surround sound, how to hook the receiver up in various configurations as well as covering the more advanced features. The receiver offers 100 watts per channel (front left,...

Great Budget Surround Receiver!

by magplaid , Apr 22 '03
Pros: Easy to setup, great sound quality, low cost
Cons: takes a few secs to turn on
I purchased this unit because I had an older Pioneer stereo receiver that was only playing out of one channel, so I decided to go ahead and get a new unit. After testing out many units at different places I decided to go ahead and go for the 5.1 dolby...

good basic receiver

by j6494 , Dec 28 '02
Pros: cheap but has DD, DTS, and PL II
Cons: limited outputs
This is a great receiver if you need an easy-to-use receiver with lots of useful functions. You can set the whole thing up very easily without even opening the manual, practically. Unlike many receivers, you can set this one up using only the remote...

An excellent choice for budget home theater

by epitone , Mar 05 '03
Pros: Great sound and features for the money
Cons: Small buttons on remote, only two digital inputs
In January 2003, I decided that my Dolby Pro-Logic receiver wasn't cutting it anymore, and it was time for an upgrade to Dolby Digital. As is typical with me, I wanted good and I wanted cheap. In this case, "good" meant a well-respected brand name...

Solid hardware for surround system
by lustderf ,Jan 03 '04
Pros: Lots of connections, feature packed for the $, good sound range. Many surround sound options.
Cons: Not for "wall shaking" Party Environments.
Bought the Pioneer D411 about a year ago. Paid $130. Unit is feature packed and able to host a wide array of inputs and outputs. Use mine connected to my Computers. Wide aray of inputs lets one connect up to 6 devices. Sound is solid, good top mid and bottom tonal range. Bass response is very solid does not distort unil maxium volume is reached. This unit is great for Home, Apt or Dorm. Would recomend to anyone considering a receiver/surround amp for thier living space. DVD playback is excellent, this reciever is able to decode surround sound to build a solid audio stage for the listener. Amp is able to produce lots of sound and would works great for everyday listening and casual parties.

Dorm room receiver...
by wadeere ,Oct 06 '05
Pros: Low cost, decent/good power, dts/dolby digital decoding
Cons: Only two digital inputs, THD could be lower.
I am on a tight budget, and when I saw this receiver for sale on Ebay, I became very interested. After some research I learned that it was pretty decent receiver.

I got it for $60, hooked it up, and so far, have been very pleased. It powers my bookshelf speakers and sub quite well. Some think that the menu system is difficult, but after coming from an older JVC, I think this Pioneer is quite simple. The input selector knob is excellent. The calibration/quick setup is useful and nice to have. It might not be true calibration but it gets the job done for such an inexpensive receiver.

In conclusion, if you are on a tight budget and you see this receiver for under $100, give it serious consideration.

Pioneer VSX D411
by ziddak ,May 21 '04
Pros: Price, build quality, performance
Cons: none at this price
What a bargain! I've used all kinds of Dolby Digital and DTS receivers such as Harman Kardon, Denon, JVC, Phillips, Onyko,Sony and now this one, the cheapest of the bunch. Don't be fooled by the low price, this Pioneer has what it takes. Plenty of inputs/outputs for a small home theater set up. Adequate power for small to medium sized rooms.
Easy to use and set up and the best thing is the price!
Consider other Pioneer receivers in this line if you need more power and of course you'll get more inputs/outputs and some bells and whistles. Pioneer got it right with this unit.
