I have to start off by saying that i paid double what this unit now sells for, and I am still more than happy to pay that amount again to buy a new one, as this amp is a superb unit with nothing to fault for the money.
I saw this unit in a shop...
Pros: Price. 100w per channel. Pre-amps out, 8 channels. Center Surround split for "7.1." Cons: Fewer inputs/outputs. Relatively high distortion (1.0%). No flexibility in impedance.
I was on the prowl for a good 7.1 receiver, perusing both stores and the Internet. My budget put the top-end Pioneer Elite receivers out of reach, but I wanted, at the very least, discrete 6.1 surround. I was surprised to find a Pioneer with exactly...
Pros: Dolby EX
DTS ES
Neo:6
Prologic II
Tape Monitor for EQ
Learning remote
Price! Cons: Controls are hidden by plastic panel.
No phono input.
All the obvious like low distortion .2%, 600 watts total, 6.1 with Dolby Digital EX, DTS ES, ProLogic II, Neo:6 in a $300 (or less) package! And there are some modes you don't even see in the specs, such as expanded audio modes, but you can download the...
Pros: DTS-ES, Dolby EX, 100 w/ch, and easy to use Cons: no THX modes (not a big loss)
I'll start this review by talking a little about this receiver. It is a 100 w x 6 (in 6.1 mode) receiver, with pre-outs, separate 5.1 channel inputs, and as many connection options as I could possibly want. It will decode Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital...
Pros: Supports all the latest inputs/outputs and encodings. Learning Remote. Great Preamp. Midnight mode. Cons: Remote would be better w/ backlighting.
Supports all the latest inputs/outputs and encodings.
NOTE:Make sure you go through the speaker configuration - it is set up for small speakers/subwoofer from the factory !
Price is worth it just for the preamp section - it has...
Pros: AMPLE Power, High quality Digital converters, Customizable digital inputs Cons: Setup takes a minute or two to get used to... not too bad
***After Thoughts***: I've owned this reciver for a few months now and I have some things that I'd like to say about it before you get into my orignal review. This reciever is Awesome. Everything that is on it is done right and works great. The...
Pros: Features, Features, Features, Price Cons: too many features, learning remote not so learning
I purchased this receiver almost a year ago and I can say that I still love it. For the money, there is no receiver that comes close to the power and sound that this thing puts out. I purchased it from etronics.com for 279$ to replace an old Sony dolby...
Great sound for movies with... by lewis_dt3000 ,Jan 28 '03
Great sound for movies with the built in decoders which is the reason I bought it. For music listening I still use my 10 year old VSX D1S which has more features and controls for music listening.
I admit, I bought on price. I've owned Pioneer receivers in the past, they've been a pretty good value. For the price, this one has a great set of features, Plenty of inputs, lots of DSP modes and is relativly easy to setup and enjoy. The power seems a bit weak compared to my 10 year old VSX-D602 that it replaced and there's only 1 set of VCR input/outputs. Overall, I'd say a good receiver for the reasonable price.
