Pros: Easy to put together, hygienic, great compartments for each part in the bag Cons: Expensive
From the start: When I had my baby, I was looking for a good hospital-type grade pump. I had some friends that had gotten some cheaper brands or other manual pumps and they had shared some of their struggles to use different brands of pumps and avoid ...

Pros: Less expensive
Efficient
Comfortable
convenient
Good customer service when needed Cons: Not very quiet
Not as powerful as the more popular choices
I chose the Embrace because it was much less expensive than the Pump in Style and Purely Yours. Additionally, I was drawn to the pump because of the "closed system" (no milk getting into the tubing) and the soft cups (comfort). Before I purchased the ...

Pros: Variable speeds, comfortable and efficient breast cups, easy to use, very organized Cons: Expense, a bit noisy
I am a working mom, who pumps twice per day to keep my son 100% breast fed while I work full time. I debated the Ameda Purely Yours and the Medela Pump-in-Style before I finally settled on this pump. It was fairly new, and there was fairly little as ...

Good... when it works!
by jctmarsh ,Jan 30 '07
Pros: comfortable Cons: motor broke down... twice!
I bought this pump because it was cheaper than the Medela and it's "newness" caught my eye. I have no complaints about how it pumped but within a few months of getting it, the motor broke down. It was easy to get another one sent to me but I was upset that it broke down so quickly. The second machine worked just fine for the rest of the time but I just started using it again with my second son and this motor broke down as well!! It is no longer under warranty so in order to get another motor I would have to spend about $200.. hardly worth it. I was able to get a hand-me-down Medela Pump In Style that is about 8 years old and it works great. It is quieter and even pumps quicker. If I had to do it over, I would spend the extra money and get the Medela.

This pump was the best!
by labdogs42 ,Nov 11 '06
Pros: Great bag, easy to use, comfortable Cons: a little noisy
I used this pump until my son was 13 months old. I went back to working full time when he was 3 months old, so I used it for ten months without an issue. The only thing that ever happened was the power cord frayed and I had to get a new one. Playtex sent one to me overnight and the problem was solved.
I pumped 3x a day and generally got 4-8 oz. per pumping session. I thought the pump was comfortable and efficient. I chose not to pump into the Playtex liners, but I used the small bottles that came with the system and some inexpensive Evenflo bottles. I stored the milk in milk storage bags that were less expensive than the Playtex system and it worked out great. I highly recommend this pump!

Don't buy this pump
by junkpump ,Jul 16 '06
Pros: None Cons: Does not work! Do not buy
We bought this pump as it was cheaper than the medela and seemed to have all the latest features. But when we needed it most, the pump failed. It began making a horrible sucking wheezing sound worse than a 30 year old vacuum cleaner, and could create any suction till it finally just quit working. This was a new pump only 2 weeks old! We called Playtex, and to their credit, they shipped us another pump right away - not even bothering to trouble shoot the problem (They must already know the problems the pump has). But the replacement was even worse, as it worked once, then had the same problems as the first one. We called Playtex again and asked for a full refund. They said to mail the entire thing back in so they can test it, and only afterward would they give a refund. I am upset since we thought Playtex was a name brand we could trust, but it seems they produced a subpar pump and are slow to rectify the problem

Horrible experience
by skyehaynes ,Jan 21 '06
Pros: I do not recommend this product!!!! Cons: noisy, not convenient to assemble and dissasemble quickly, bad customer service.
I bought the playtex embrace pump to go back to work. The sales person talked me into it. So I purchased it even though the medela is better known. After using it for 3 days it started to make a horrible noise like crickets chirping and a weed eater. I called Playtex and they gave me some trouble shooting pointers. It stopped the noises for one day then started back up again. When I called playtex back they would not help me nor would they exchange the product because I had forgotten to turn in my warranty card. They suggested I go back to the store. (very rudely might i say) I went back to the store and as I already knew they wont return breast pumps. I called playtex back they said oh well. I'd have to buy a new one. Finally i went through the corp at the store i bought it and got my money back but through all the time it was broken i had to use my avent manual and thank God for it. otherwise i dont know what i would have done.
