Pros: Baby liked the handles as teethers Cons: Baby favored other sippy cups, rubber piece in lid falls out
I bought this cup a couple of months ago when my baby was eight months old. I put a sippy cup on her high chair tray at most meals. I don't expect her to drink from it yet but want her to get used to the idea. The first cup we tried didn't have ...

Pros: Attractive. Baby will like when he's older. Cons: Not a goof first cup. $4.00 for one.
I bought this cup for my first baby. He began drinking from cups at around 6-7 months for water only. He loved the Tupperware bell tumblers. I bought this cup because, let's face it...Playtex is supposed to be the name in cups. I liked the fact that the ...

Playtex Sipster
by ejbanton ,Aug 05 '07
Pros: No-spill, Soft spout, Handles, Design Cons: May be hard to suck with stopper in place
I started using these cups when my son was 5 months old, just to introduce him to a sippy cup. He did amazingly well and took to it quickly. However, I did find it to be relatively hard for him to get liquid from the spout with the stopper in place. I ended up finding it was easier for him to drink without the stopper. It's a lot more messy but it did teach him how the use the cup. He is now 8 months old and can use the cup proficiently with the stopper in place.
I have never had a problem with this cup leaking or the stopper falling out. If anything, the stopper is hard to get out!
I recommend patience with using this cup. It is a good product but may take a while for your child to learn to take from it. I suggest trying other types as well, so your child does not just stuck on any one kind. A great transition cup is also the Nuby Soft-top style.

Love these cups
by kp81872 ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: leak proof, colorful, soft, easy to use, handles Cons: if you don't have a small brush, hard to clean inside
These cups are a big favorite in my house. My 3 year old loves them, my 7 month old loves them, and the 18 mo old twins I take care of love them too.
The rubber sip top is great for my son while he is teething and learning to use cups. He bites them and some water will come out and he is figuring out how it works. The handles make it very easy for him to hold. They are really good as far as not leaking goes. I don't have much problems with them in this area. My daughter can have hers filled with her strawberry milk and it can be tipped over on the ground and when I go pick it up there is no puddle to clean up.
I will continue to buy these for myself and as gifts. They have a lot of nice colors, too.

Only one that doesn't leak
by merrill77 ,Nov 05 '05
Pros: The only ones we tried that are truly leak-proof. Cons: Hard tips aren't as kid-friendly as the softer tips on other bottles.
There isn't much point in buying a leak-proof cup if it leaks. We've tried the Gerber and Evenflo cups, and both our twins have learned to knock out the valve immediately and splash the drink all over the place. On the Gerber bottles they bang the cup on the table and the valve pops out. On the Evenflo bottles they blow the valves out. I could not blow out the Playtex valves myself, and neither can the twins.
In transition from bottles, they favored the soft tips of the Gerber cups, but once we got them adjusted to the cups, we immediately switched to the Playtex cups because they are the only ones that have a kid-proof valve.
They refused them at first, but after a meal or two without anything to drink, they gave in and now drink fine.
