Pros: A thrilling tale with solid characters. Detective Cory's wit is irresistible and compelling. Cons: A bit far-fetched but hey, who knows?
I have read Nelson DeMille once before having enjoyed The Charm School an interesting read pertaining to Russia's KGB. For whatever reason I never picked up any of his other dozen or so books, many of which made the NY Times Best Seller List. I ...

Pros: Lots of entertainment value and interesting tidbits of info! Cons: You'll have to make up your own mind about John Corey!
Take Michael Connelly's Detective Harry Bosch, a hard-boiled, talented, nearly burnt-out loner with lots of psychological baggage and absolutely no respect for superiors or procedure. Add the self-deprecating faux stumble-bum approach of Peter Falk's ...

Pros: I loved the locale since Long Island is my home! Cons: Not a story about Plum Island itself.
Plum Island is my first Nelson DeMille novel, chosen by me on the recommendation of a friend. She said it was page-turning and difficult to put down. After turning over 500 pages, I had no problem putting it down. It was a good ...

Pros: Lots of dialogue make this book very fast paced Cons: A little too long
Just when I think I have figured out what kind of book Nelson DeMille writes, he throws me a loop. His books don't fit neatly into any genre, but all have an air of mystery. This one is no different. It is a nice murder mystery, with all kinds of...

Pros: Can't put it down - You won't want it to end - You will write and beg for a sequel Cons: Goes too fast
I never realized how much of a DeMille fan I was until recently.
An avid reader, I love an opportunity to discuss reading / books and authors with whoever is interested in conversing on the topic.
One evening while bartending, a...

Pros: Interesting plot, well-developed characters, excellent writing. Cons: Moves quite quickly; some might get left behind.
Plum Island is easily one of my favorite books of all-time. It chronicles a murder investigation from the point of view of the main character, NYPD homicide detective John Corey, convalescing on Long Island after being wounded in a shootout on...

Pros: Keeps you on the edge of your seat, very likeable characters (especially John Corey), this book has too many more pros too list here. Cons: Just one part , about half a page long, which I wont ruin for you
I got this book from my grandma, who got it from a yard sale for a quarter and had finished reading it. In my opinion, this was the most well spent quarter I had ever heard of.
The book is great, within 5 minutes I was lost in it. It was full...

Pros: 574 pages of a well written mystery novel with many twists and unexpected events. The background is richly described - to the point that I am motivated to visit the area of the Connecticut coast and the north-east portion of Long Island. The characters are Cons: None that I can call to mind.
This is another of my pleasurable experiences. "Plum Island" by Nelson DeMille ranks right up at the top of my list of well written and most entertaining books. The action is intense and gripping. At times - one may sense what is about to...

Pros: Great humor, incredible plot, beautifully woven storyline Cons: Nothing at all
My dad has had an interest for Nelson Demille's literature since his first days of being an author. He has loved most every book, and frequently recommends them to his friends and colleagues at his office. Finally, he recommended to me the book Plum...

Pros: action, plot reversals, themes, irony, heart Cons: no sequel - yet!
"Zone Five" was the clincher for me -- Plum Island's mystery was centered on anything BUT biological warfare.
DeMille very often trespasses on US government black operations, but he usually takes you well beyond what you thought...

Pros: Entertaining and interesting Cons: a little slow at times
This book was just laying around the house. So, I picked it up and began reading it. I was really surprised I am not much for mystery books, but I found this interesting and I couldn't put it down. DeMille did an excellent with his characters...

Pros: Plot, Writing Style, Descriptions, Choice of Words, Characters Cons: Includes the scary truth of a Bio-disaster.
Long Island's own Nelson DeMille (author of "The Gold Coast") has written yet another great book: "Plum Island", one of the best books I have read in years. If your are looking for a good book, but you do not know what type you want,...

Pros: Gripping story, real characters Cons: OK, it's not a classic piece of literature
This is the first DeMille book I have read and I loved it. I have subsequently read "The Gold Coast" and "The Charm School" both of which I enjoyed but not as much as I enjoyed reading Plum Island.
First of all, the...

Pros: Well written/ humorous/ interesting subject matter Cons: None really.
Some books are like therapy to me. I love having one that I can grab hold of and read during stolen moments in the midst of my crazy life. Each time I was able to sit down for a few minutes and read this, I had no problem picking up where I'd left off...

Pros: When the effort is put forth, masterful descriptions. Good suspense, great premise. Cons: Predictable good & bad guys. No significant twists. Exposition seems hurried or crammed.
As my first non-computer book, (Other than Lance Armstrong), that I've finished in about 5 years, I had mixed feelings about Plum Island. When two biologists are murdered on Plum Island, John Corey, NYPD homicide detective, is asked by a ...
