Good scanner for slides with appropriate post-processing

by photofriend , Feb 16 '06
Pros: Reliable, easy installation, high resolution, reasonable speed, low price for dedicated film scanner
Cons: Poor quality from negatives, no dust and scratch removal included, labor intensive
I was able to get high quality scans from slides out of this scanner. I was not successful in scanning negative film at reasonable quality. Scratch and dust removal is not included, which proved especially bad for negative film. Scans from negative film ...

Never worked
by epinionsrwd ,Oct 04 '07
Pros: Good construction
Cons: Never worked
This looked like a good item. Well constructed, probably easy to use, easy interface. But I could never get past a popup screen that said "Scanner not ready". The computer detected the device, so I know it wasn't a connection problem. However, de-installing and reinstalling the software didn't work, and installing new software from the websites didn't, either, which was all the help desk in Germany could recommend. For this much money, I didn't want to spend days of my time on a device which I didn't believe would ever work. So back to the merchant it went.

Plustek OpticFilm 7200 Film Scanner (35 mm)
by sultan463 ,Oct 21 '07
Pros: Small and lightweight for when you return it.
Cons: Unfriendly software unacceptable results from good quality negatives. Not worth even emmerg short term.
Lightweight and compact construction. Plastic holders for negative strips a little disapointing and difficult to align negatives in holder. Came with two complete copies of software which upgraded to Windows Vista but no access codes. Remains in demo mode until you register. Complicated proceedures and countless emails to complete registration. Software not user friendly and many many problems. Difficult to use and very disapointed in results.
