Pros: Credit-card sized; takes mic or line-level inputs; good batt life & storage capacity. Cons: Nonstandard 3/32" plugs.
I bought the RipFlash Trio mainly to record piano recitals, my own practice sessions, etc. The RipFlash does a great job at this -- at a reasonable bitrate like 80kb/s the sound quality is not bad and it records for several hours. Sound quality is more ...
I've had one of these units for a couple of months now and I'm rather impressed. It was only $100, so I don't have to worry a great deal about it getting banged around, making it handy to carry around in my pocket. The majority of use I get out of it ...
Pros: Records Voice,Music; & 128 meg capacity Everything included; great price Cons: Display is hard to read; manual has tiny print
While I invested in this as a replacement for my aging voice actuated cassette recorder, I discovered the quality and ease of use was outstanding. This machine can do practically anything and is lightening fast at up or downloading files.

Pros: Long record time capability, Phone record, compact size, FM, excellent sound, VOR Cons: Menus cumbersome, non standard connectors, proprietary battery
I purchased this as a supplemental recorder for the Ripflash DX that I had to send in for service, mainly because it has a modular phone jack accessory that allows recording of phone conversations, and because it has a voice operated record mode, which ...

The above pictured product is the Ripflash Plus. The reviewed product is the RipFlash Trio. This is a sensational product. Must haves include MP3 playback, WMA playback, built-in FM receiver, FM MP3 recording, MP3 voice recording, rechargeable...
Pros: Multiple ways to input/output from device. Very satisfied with Customer Svc Cons: Built-in speaker tinny sounding (but with headphones or external speaker is excellent).
My reason for wanting RipFlash was primarily to record my daughter's piano playing and then to upload to computer and burn on CD's. The RipFlash has turned out to be an excellent product for accomplishing this since it records right to MP3 format....

I purchased this... by alank_dt3000 ,Feb 25 '03
Overall Comments:
I purchased this to replace an aging TR for voice recording. Excellent performance and ease of use. The manual is incomplete, misleading. The tri is SMALL and light, fits easily in a shirt pocket. If used while in the gym I'd need a small case to strap on a belt. Pogo's kit includes everything needed to record/play files from a PC or other audio device.
The battery life is excellent and the quality of music reproduction is very good to excellent. I have set mine to record at med and have not needed to go any higher, thus preserving enough memory to record many tracks of music and voice. This is a great buy. I purchased this from a discounter, at $160.00 and got it in 4 days!
Once I install the included software and live with it for a while I will post another critique.
Very nice mp3/wma player,volume is... by musicman_dt3000 ,Jan 19 '03
Very nice mp3/wma player, volume is loud enough, nice 5 preset eq.,random play great, easy file eraser, cool repeat functions. If you want the trio for the fm radio/internal recordings, think twice, the fm reception is nominal on half of my stations. The most aggravating thing about the fm radio recording is that the record button light sends out a static signal into the fm band that you want to record. I get about 46-50 wma files on this player. 128 megs is adequate. I have recorded a few lps, seems good to go for old albums tapes etc. Radio only records at around 96 bps.,other external sources you have a choice. Battery life,no problem. Id tags good, backlight great, but also puts a small distortion in my recording playback until it turns off. Software is simple, usb seems to fail to always connect with player. If fm is important to you, can't recommend it, maybe the riplash pro would be a better bet.
POGO's TRIO Slim Series MP3... by chandi_dt3000 ,Dec 11 '02
POGO's TRIO Slim Series MP3 Player/Recorder is truly amazing... It is soooo thin & small that u hardly feel that it is in the palm of your hand... weighing almost an ounce, its unbeleivably the lightest recorder/player in the market. It has an FM tuner, MP3 player & Voice recording in MP3 format. The sound output quality is terrific and it has 5 pre-set sounds in its equalizer. The firmware upgrade feature is very cool & I was able to load the latest firmware from their website very easily.
Limitations are its memory & lack of WMA encoding!! Memory is just 128MB, but it suits my needs and if there was WMA encoding, it wud have suited my 4hour high quality recording!
With USB 1.1 & their proprietary VR Manager software, upload/download of voice/mp3 files is very easy. Another key feature is their PC-free mp3 encoding. U just hook up your Tape/LP Player's Line-out to the Line-in & voila!! U have mp3 files!!Overall a great buy for a reasonable price....
