Pros: Price, Picture Quality, Durable Cons: Remote Control, No Clock
If you want an inexpensive DVD player, consider purchasing the Polaroid DHM-0100. I purchased mine for $39.99 about three months ago, and it can now be had for between $25-$30.00 at major electronics retailers. With this very reasonable price, ...

The price is low. So is everything else.

Pros: None. Cons: Anything you can think of that you might require from a gizmo.
It's too bad this player is such a gamble, because it's compact, cheap, and simplesort of like some older US-made cars. But, just like those cars, it doesn't always work very well. Mine has played very few discs without some glitches. The remote control is sometimes not even remotely connected to the player. The instruction manual isn't very good. If you buy this as your first DVD player, you'll either give up on DVDs or you'll toss this player out after a short while. So don't waste a little money on this one. Spend a bit more to obtain something that WORKS.

More like Hemmeroid
by MajorWombat ,Mar 11 '06
Pros: cheap Cons: It doesn't work - 40$ worth of bricks would offer the same picture.
Worst DVD player, ever!
I bought one of these for my daughter's room. It worked for 2 weeks and then stopped working. I took it back to the retailer, who exchanged it for another. It didn't work out of the box at all.
The units have trouble reading discs for some reason. To my ears, it sounds like the disc drags on the tray, and that is ruining the spin speed of the disc and thus trashing the critical timing. But that's irrelevant - it's junk. I'm now out 40$ for a player because I bought this piece of garbage.
Don't even LOOK at this player. It seduces you with a low price so you can put one in the children's bedroom (so you can watch your own tv at last). But it'll let you down by not working and then you get to listen to the wailing waifs as you scrounge the money for a replacement player.
I only hope Polaroid's handheld players are better, or lots of people are really going to hate the name Polaroid.

Piece of Junk
by duke2 ,Sep 06 '07
Pros: Price, size Cons: Simply does not work. Waste of money.
I purchased this a while back and used it very little. After playing just a few DVD's, it failed. Playback skipped, stalled and produced multi-colored snow in the picture. In my case this occurs after about an hour in playback. I also hear what sounds like the DVD scraping.
Whatever the price, you are just throwing that money away.

Polaroid should be Ashamed
by brunet ,Jul 21 '06
Pros: Price, picture quality fair, size Cons: sound, set-up,flickers,many faults.
The unit has a bad background noise that gets progresivly worse as it plays. Big goofy, cheesy graphics, flickers abit, why would Polaroid put their name on this? It really does make my question any of their products now.

Stay away!

Pros: none Cons: poor picture quality, inconsistent brightness. Do not buy this DVD player
This DVD player did not work out of the box. The picture color was very off, and I thought it was settings at first. But when I got the settings corrected, the picture faded in and out, bright and dim, every 5 seconds. I don't think the DVD was spinning at a constant speed. How cheap! I had to return it the next day. You get what you pay for, and I have learned my lesson.

This is DVD player is trash
by dravidan ,Dec 03 '06
Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything
You are most likely reading this review if you bought this crap and it stopped working. Mine stopped working after 6 months. At that point I only used it for less than 10 times. The warranty was only for 90 days and Polaroid wants to charge me $20 on top of shipping for replacement. Think twice before you buy a Polaroid product from circuit city.

DHM-0100: A lot for a little
by mtnmann ,Jun 18 '05
Pros: Lots of features, Cheap price Cons: BIG CON: No Position Memory
Good DVD player. Bought it for $39.99 with a $10.00 rebate. Plays many formats and progressive scan. My biggest letdown was that if you power off, you have to go through all the start-up junk and menus to return to the position where you were in the DVD. There is no Position Memory. I understand they(Polaroid)have started including this feature on newer models.

Polaroid, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!!!!!!!!!!!!
by edwardh310 ,Mar 02 '06
Pros: Small footprint, and its clearly marked and conveniently placed functions on the remote. Cons: Unit froze, wouldn't eject DVD. Had to unplug the unit and plug it back in.
I'm SHOCKED -- SHOCKED -- SHOCKED -- that Polaroid would even manufacture such a poor product. Returning it after one use. ---------- Unit froze during play, wouldn't even eject the DVD. Had to unplug the unit and plug it back in before it ejected the DVD. Tried several DVD movies and none of them would work even though they all worked perfectly in two other DVD players. ---------- The only good things about this player are its small footprint, and the clearly marked and conveniently placed functions on the remote. ---------- AVOID this DVD player because if it won't play a DVD then any good thing about the remote, or anything else for that matter, just...doesn't...matter. ---------- I was on the verge of buying a Polaroid flat screen LCD/TV, but now I won't -- I don't dare.
