Some great ideas in a flimsy package

by lotsofjoy , Feb 04 '06
Pros: Swivel Screen, Car package, price.
Cons: Cheaply made, unreliable, Didn't work for very long.
We're getting ready for an airplane trip with three young children and were hoping that being able to let them watch some of their favorite shows on the plane would make it more manageable. So I started looking online. We will mostly use it for trips, ...

Good DVD player but not for the hard of hearing

by newsreporter , Jul 12 '05
Pros: Picture quality, durability
Cons: maximum volume is just not very loud
I bought this for my wife for Christmas after being stuck on an airport runway for an hour. The product is very easy to use, with simple controls. Excellent picture quality, though the sound is a bit "tinny." It also has two nice features...two headset ...

Polaroid should be held accountable for THEIR design flaw!

by emtee433 , Jun 18 '06
Pros: Good Picture, Swivel Screen is very handy.
Cons: Scratches the DVDs, speakers are useless, very poor customer service
WE bought this portable DVD for car travel. For the price we paid, one would have thought it should work pretty well! Beware, it scratches your DVDs!!! I have had to tape down the ribbon to try to keep it from scratching our movies, and that doesn't ...

Bad Product for the Price
by kmdenning ,Jan 20 '06
Pros: Extras such as battery pack, car adapter, convenient cc size remote.
Cons: Price much to high for the life of the unit. (less than a year).
We received our player as a Christmas gift last year, and after 6 months of light use, our DVDs were getting scratched by the hardware ribbon attached to the laser/lens. 2 more months of light use, only 1/2 of our DVDs were working in the unit as the laser/lens was going "bad" per repair shop. 1 more month of light use, and it will not load any DVDs nor CD's as the laser does not work any more. I was not impressed with Polaroid's warranty, only 90 days, nor impressed with the $135.00 replacement fee. This gift was purchased for us based on Polaroid's reputation, however I would never purchase a product from them again unless it offered a better warranty.

Stay away from Polaroid
by wbrittain ,Jul 21 '05
Pros: Neat player, if it worked.
Cons: Will scratch up your dvds.
I bought this for my daughter last christmas; after six months we noticed her dvds were getting scratched up. I finally opened the lid and noticed that a cable was sticking up to where it was actually making contact with the dvd disk! I called polaroid; they offered to send me a replacement if I paid them $135! What a joke.

Not a good investment
by winston68 ,Jun 25 '06
Pros: Remote control is small
Cons: Not built well, cheap.
Bought at Walmart in January (now June) and it no longer works. The DVD Player does not play, just keeps putting the message "no disc" on the screen.

better buy extended warranty
by dawniellen ,Jun 22 '05
Pros: great picture, sound, etc. Love the rotating screen
Cons: short life on laser, expensive to repair, might as well buy a new one.
I bought one of these for my son for Christmas on 12/20/04. It has had very light use, we only let him use it on long trips, it probably has less than 50 hours total usage. The last time we took it out, it wouldn't read any of the discs we put in it. I took it to a local repair shop and they told me the laser was shot. Polaroid apparently doesn't have much faith in their products, since their warranty is only 3 months!!!

This was not a cheap item, I bought it because Polaroid was a good name (so I thought) and I thought it would last.
