This is simply the best palm sander around! (Well maybe with the exception of some new Porter-Cable models). Its operation is very smooth and a pleasure to use. The first palm sander I purchased was a Makita, which has a lot of vibration and gets saw dust build-up inside this sander. I upgraded to the Porter-Cable based on a recommendation of a friend of mine who was a Professional painter. In comparison, the Porter-Cable has very little hand vibration and is a lot less fatiguing, and comes with a long electrical cord attached.. The shape feels comfortable in your hand and I can hold in many ways both right and left hand usage. I recommend using adhesive backed sanding material from 3M. It is faster to apply than cutting sheets of paper... This is a professional grade sander which I use for my house and woodworking projects. The initial cost is more than some Japanese brands, but long term cost it is a better value.
