  • Impressive little chain saw

    Dec 22, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Starts and handles easily, minimal vibration. Lightweight. "Quick adjust" chain tensioner feature works as advertised.
Cons: The chain tension requires frequent tinkering.

Summary: I recently found myself the proud owner of my first home, including the heating bills. I also have the good fortune of a supply of cheap, plentiful hardwood. That in mind, I went looking for a firewood saw. I grew up around chain saws in a ... read more

  • 2 tanks of gas, 4 chains

    May 30, 2009 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Cool colors as if that makes a good saw.
Cons: Pitches chains, self loosening, chain brake engages with the slightest bump, too sensitive, hard starting.

Summary: The title tells it all.  I had one of the Wildthings before and it was fine.  It started good and did all that it was supposed to.  This wasnt the case for my dads saw as it got a crack in the crankcase and would no longer run.  ... read more

  • Poulan 18" Wild Thing chain saw

    Sep 29, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: It's a cheap and powerful and trouble free chain saw.
Cons: Kill switch location. bar seems a little more fragile that I would like.

Summary: I bought this thing to be a disposable chain saw. I had a "better" chain saw that I didn't want to destroy because of the work I was going to do with it. I'm clearing a dense woods that is overgrown with 25 year old ash and thorn trees and briar's and ... read more

  • A purple Chainsaw???

    Aug 18, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: It does start.
Cons: Quick adjust fails, vibration problems, not enough juice

Summary: Green and purple. Its not starting well. Poulan is well-known for making "affordable," choices in outdoor equipment. Being a gas chainsaw is roughly 2-5 HP and all it's responsible for is moving a chain. Yeah get something worth-while. Back to the ... read more

  • Not bad considering some of the reviews I have read

    Jul 20, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Worked well, kept on running for the better part of a few hours.
Cons: Should have included the blade oil, seems cheaply put together.

Summary: I bought this after the storm on July 18, 2006 as I had the top half of a huge sycamore tree on my front lawn. I worked with the saw for perhaps 3 hours or so. Once I got it to work, it worked fairly well. There were a few issues though: 1) They ... read more

Pros: a good target to "sight in" your new scope for you 30.06 Remington.
Cons: But it would not attach very easily to the target stand.

Summary: I needed a chainsaw to do some quick cleanup of hurricane debris, so I skipped doing the research on “Best Chainsaws.” I bought the POULAN 18” saw because it was cheap. Now I know WHY it was cheap... The saw was fine for most of the day. Then, once it ... read more

Pros: Short life I could take it right back for a bump up to Poulan-Pro.
Cons: chain tensioner, paint job, short life.

Summary: A chainsaw with markings similar to a BMX bike is the first sign that you might be looking at a loser. The saw that I bought lasted no more than 30 minutes. While this is from the company that used to be one of the best in saws (Husqvarna), it is its ... read more

    Pros: price, weight, low maintenance
Cons: none-I'm satisfied because I'm not expecting the machine to perform like a Stihl

Summary: I'm on my second one in several years. For $150 I don't think there is a better buy. It starts immediately, even after months of sitting idle. When it quits after 15 or 20 minutes I find that I have the wrong mix-40/1 rather than 32/1 as recommended, or ... read more
