I agree with DigitalDoc's extensive review written July 9, 2004. This trimmer is very good. I was drawn to the ability to twist between edging and trimming jobs. I have thick viney St. Augustine grass and the Poulan just plows right through it. The auto feed works great. And starting has been easy.

However, I had one problem. First I have to acknowledge that I may have partially caused the problem by not emptying the tank for the winter. But when I went to crank things up recently, I found that the fuel hose inside the the tank had broken into bits and pieces. When I touched the pieces they would just disintegrate. I took it to the shop and they said that typically happens from not emptying the tank. But they said "the original fuel hoses are not as good as the replacement ones", so I think I'm only part to blame. And this did not happen with my lawn mower, blower or hedge trimmer which I neglected to empty either. It appears I'm still thankfully under the 2 year warranty so I think I'm covered. Otherwise no problems.

Pros: Twist and Edge feature. Easy to use bump and feed. Powerful. Good price.
Cons: A little hard to start at times.

I bought this trimmer about 5 years ago. It plowed through the thickest weeds with little effort. I just wish it had the easy start system offered the following year. The trimmer finally died on me this year, but I punished it for 5 years. I wish I could find another like it. Good trimmer for the money.
