18 Months and Still Loving it
by jamanda25 ,May 22 '06
Pros: Web Browsing, easy texting and emailing. Cons: Bulky,
I can't imagine how I lived before my Sidekick II. I have had it for a year and a half now, and still love it. The only issues I've had have been with T-Mobile Service and not the phone itself.

Terrific Device - Absolutely Unusable T-Mobile Network
by lovetobike ,Feb 11 '05
Pros: Great Device Cons: Unusable Data and Voice Service via T-Mobile
What a frustrating situation. After two months with the Sidekick II using T-Mobile (based in the SF Bay Area), I just love the device, but the data and voice networks from T-Mobile are so bad that I was actually forced to get a second phone from a different provider so I could reliably make and receive calls.
The team at Danger really did an exceptional job in my opinion, but they simply must find a way to offer the device with a reasonable service provider. I have used Verizon, AT&T, Cingular, and Sprint, and while none of them are great, T-Mobile is dramatically worse than any of them. I have unfortunately learned that other T-Mobile customers suffer largely the same issues, regardless of the phone used.
The data network that is used for e-mail however is especially unreliable.
Don't fall for the "We're serious about coverage" marketing campaign by T-Mobile like I did, even if their on-line locator says you live in a great area for coverage.
So despite how much I like the Sidekick II device, I can't recommend anyone use it until it is offered with a different data and voice service provider.

Excellent Device, packed with features
by jennadeang ,Aug 24 '05
Pros: Packed with features, web access is convenient Cons: battery life, camera, poor tmobile coverage
I purchased the Sidekick Color II new from ebay. I already had the T mobile service but wanted a phone with full email and web access. This phone was it. I was able to easily link my work Outlook email to my phone so i am never out of touch.
The web portal also works excellent, allowing you to visit virutally every site on the net except those that require Flash. I cant tell you how many times MapQuest and Yahoo directory have come in handy on car trips nad vacations! The screen is plently big enough to easliy view most sites without any distortion.
The games, ringtones, and applications are endless. I llke being able to preview a game or ringtone right on my phone before I purchase it.
The camera isnt that great. It takes pretty bad pictures, but I hardly ever have the need for it.
If i had to complain about anything on this phone it would be the TMobile service itself. Coverage is very flaky around the Boston area. In my town the phone has full signal at my house, yet 1/10th of a mile down the road it is a dead zone.

Expect bad customer service
by thoughtfulshop ,Aug 09 '06
Pros: the communication works Cons: terrible customer service, sneaky billing practices, refusal to refund false charges
I have had extensive experience with T-mobile customer service. They inaccurately charged my credit card $80 over 3 months and refused to refund it. Be warned, T-mobile doesn't want its customers for life -- it wants every last $, and you will have an experience similar to mine!
