Pros: Gives Wonderful relief of Acid Reflux
Cons: Must take it every 24 hours without fail, A bit expensive.
I have had an acid reflux condition for about 7 years now. I was diagnosed by a doctor with the condition, and unfortunately it is chronic. This is one of the most uncomfortable conditions you can have, especially when you have a severe case ...

No Dragon Breath Here~Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, Delayed-Release Tablets

by Ladysmom Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Feb 11 '06
Pros: Works better than expected.
Cons: Packaging.
I have had heartburn for a very long time, a very long time. It was to the point that I thought Rolaids and Tums were considered after dinner mints and before dinner mints. I was taking them before I ate and after I ate to try to prevent that awful ...

Put the Acid Pumps Out of Business

by smh32775 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 14 '05
Pros: inexpensive,no side effects, long term relief
Cons: not for those who want immediate relief
When I was 20 years old, I was diagnosed with an ulcer, heartburn and mild acid reflux disease. Anyone familiar with these ailments can understand the intense burning associated from them. I was desperate for longterm relief and not the 20 minute relief ...

Delayed Effectiveness... but an amazing tablet!

by biscuitfarmer Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 03 '06
Pros: Works great, very little side effect
Cons: makes me slightly tired, take some time to work.
I have had issues with heartburn for as far back as I can remember. Even when I was school age, I remember having horrible bouts of heartburn that would nearly put me into tears, and this was in middle school. It can be argued that it was diet, it ...

Effective treatment of ongoing heartburn

by karahtalia , Sep 06 '04
Pros: Excellent for heartburn relief.
Cons: NOT an instant fix so be forewarned.
I did not get heartburn till I had my first child, after that I seemed to get it on a regular basis if I did not eat regular meals. I did not really pay it any mind as I do not typically take medications for things unless directed by a doctor. So I ...

Prilosec OTC...Strong Reflux Relief Goes OTC

by mariamd , Feb 06 '04
Pros: Extremely effective, fair cost (better that some prescription co-pays)
Cons: potentially missing serious conditions if one chooses to self treat
My relationship with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)has become a very long, often painful, ordeal. For anyone who has the occasional heartburn, just imagine what it is like to have it with every single meal and no matter what foods you eat. Well, ...

Prilosec OTC ! Great Ulcer Medication !

by Carlbud22 , Sep 11 '04
Pros: Ulcer pain eradicated for long time periods
Cons: A week or more to start working, painful vision effects
A few years back, I was having constant, extremely painful nausea. It seemed like every second of the day I could, to be blunt, puke everywhere. After talking to my doctor about it, we determined that I had stomach ulcers. I started taking medication ...

side effects

by porchcat , Mar 31 '07
Pros: OTC, very effective against acid and heartburn.
Cons: side effects, truly awful packaging.
Despite all the drug information resources I've checked, I do get side effects from this medication. Strangely, it is the only medication, including prescription drugs, that does crush the horrible acid reflux and heartburn I experience. That ...

Holy Mother of no more acid.
by RandomSanity ,Dec 24 '06
Pros: No more acid
Cons: Price
I used to wake up in the middle of the night choking on stomach acid, but no more. I'm the type of guy that hates taking pills, but my one exception is Prilosec. The package says to take one every day, but I only need one about every three days or so. During this time I have NO acid issues what so ever. I know that it can be a little pricey, but most definately worth every penny. I no longer have to fear what I eat or when...I just take a pill when I feel a little acid coming back and it's all gone for a few more days. This product has definately increased my quality of life and at this point I wouldn't know what to do without it.

PRILOSEC OTC
by lccajun ,Jan 28 '07
Pros: It is the only things that gives me relief.
Cons: The packaging. Could we have a bottle, please.
Prilosed OTC is the only aci reducer that really works for me. I happen to have one of those stomachs that just loves to crank out acid no matter what I eat. Prilosec once a day in the morning is all it takes.

Don't know how good it is till you stop!
by carolelgin ,Feb 14 '07
Pros: Works wonderfully. Can be found on sale at various places including online.
Cons: The packaging can cause bad words to escape from one's mouth.
Prilosec OTC was recommended to me when my insurance refused to pay for Protonix anymore. I now take two P-OTC a day and get the relief I did with the Protonix.

I did not realize how much it worked until I ran out and kept blowing off driving to the drug store. That caused me a trip to the emergency room. Oh, boy, I am committed to taking my Prilosec.

It does cause a bit of sleepiness. I take mine at night. It works for 24 hours so I am covered. I do not, however, push my luck with what I eat.

In the CONS I too am going to mention the packaging. It is a nightmare. I buy the 48 pack and sit and cut them all open and put them in an old medicine bottle. If I don't do this I have a wrestling match on my hands nightly.

This product works. It takes a few days to kick in but it is far the best for chronic conditions.

Prilosec may be cancerous
by pkat ,May 29 '07
Pros: Works very well
Cons: Use Talc which is cancerous.
Prilosec works wonderfully. However they use talc (a common ingredient), which is considered cancerous just like asbestos. I wonder why they have to use it.

Great
by confederate2 ,Sep 15 '07
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
I have been taking Prilosec daily for more than 10 years. I can now get OTC at my Sam's Club and it is cheaper and much more convenient. And I don't have to have my doctor write scripts for it anymore. Love this drug, it makes daily quality of life so great if you are prone to GERD and similar conditions. I can eat anything I want. Love it. Great product.
