After buying proactive a year ago and not being entirely impressed with it I put away the refining mask i got as a bonus with the proactive kit. Recently my face started breaking out again (i usually get a clutter of very small pimples in the t-zone areas) and I ran into the mask in the bathroom drawer. So i put it on. when i took it off, my face felt so refreshed and could tell that it had sucked up the excess oil. Now i use it every night and it has improved my oily,acne prone skin significantly.It totally calms down acne patches and smooths skin!I love this product because it doesn't make things worse before they get better, like a lot of acne treatments do. This didn't bring pimples to the surface it just reduced them below the surface. However i recently ran out and can't find a place where i can just buy the mask and not the rest of the proactive products.

I had tried the ProActiv starter kit about four years ago and was disappointed with the results and actually sent the unused portion back for a refund. My acne was cystic and rampant and I had become depressed. After using red-light therapy and antibiotics for 6 months, the problem is under control and all but gone, so I decided to try ProActiv again to see if it could help maintain my acne-free status.

Initially, I experienced a breakout, but it was expected with the use of a new product. I can also say that I immediately noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin. My pores seemed smaller and less full of that icky stuff, and my skin softer.

I only use the mask once a week because it is strong, but I cannot live without it, now. It has considerably reduced the oiliness of my face.

This mask came as a free gift with my special one-month supply of the Proactiv system. While it does have a unique smell, you can get used to it. It smells like it's active ingredient: sulfur. It's not so strong that you'll be running for air, however.

I use this mask directly after using the Step 1 Cleanser two to three times per week. I directly follow it with Steps 2 & 3. I must say I was mightily impressed with this mask. If I have a flare-up, I use this mask in conjunction with the three-piece system and the next day my flare-up is almost gone. Normally it would be two or three weeks before clearing up. With my oily skin, this mask is the perfect companion. I will continue to buy this product separately even if I discontinue my purchasing of the three-piece system (it's just too expensive sometimes). This mask is worth the price.
