Pros: dries up all blemishes, unscented, really works! Cons: can be overly drying, must buy through mail
At last I'm reviewing the third product in the three step Proactive System. You've no doubt seen the infomercials, right? It's funny because I very nearly threw out my bottle of Proactive Solution Repairing Lotion several times during cleaning...
Pros: Simple and easy to apply, no strong odors, no cleanup needed Cons: Small amount can run out quicky if used more than once per day
I have been dealing with moderate acne over my entire face for several years, and thus far nothing has ever seemed to work. Two years ago I saw the late night infomercial for Proactive Solution, and how great their system worked. Afterwards I decided ...
Pros: GENTLE, low concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide will not cause irritation or rebound acne. Cons: Expensive - not available in department stores.
Introduction
My name is Melissa and I am a 34 year old woman with acne.
I hope you will find this coverage of the Proactiv Solutions Repairing Lotion helpful, and perhaps be influenced in the direction of giving Proactiv a try....
Pros: Creamy, effectively clears up and prevents breakouts, Cons: Can be drying, bleaches clothes and colored towels, stains white towels, not in stores.
I have struggled with acne for many years. It started in my early teens and was just awful. My mom took me to many dermatologists who tried various methods of healing and prevention but more often than not I ended up with worsened acne or with dry ...
Pros: Gentle acne treatment but very effective , healed my acne Cons: Hard to purchase in Australia , don't get caught in there buyers scheme
My skin I have suffered acne for as long as I can remember! It has been way over 10 years and I cannot even think back to when I had completely clear skin. My acne however was never bad enough to be prescribed accutane or other severe ...
Pros: Not only clears up pimples, but moisturizes Cons: Leaves a slight shine on your face; may bleach hair or clothes
The Repairing Lotion is the final step in the Proactiv Solution 3-Step system for blemish control. It is a product similar to the Oxy or Clearasil benzoyl peroxide medications found in drug stores, except more effective and pleasant for your skin. The...
Pros: Helps clear ugly red pimples. The lotion is great as well. Cons: A little expensive, but well worth it.
I have read some opinions about the product Pro-Active.Some of the opinions stated that it was bad on they're face as well as some that said it worked really well. I thought I'd take a chance on it.
Pros: Gentle, effective, comes in a system. Cons: Expensive, comes in a small bottle.
Many, many epinions members have reviewed the Proactiv line, so I'd like to keep this as non-redundant as possible. I have had good results worth sharing with the epinions community: I purchased my Proactiv products at a booth at my local shopping ...
My Skin Care Needs I have tried a variety of skin care products over the yearsmostly Origins, some Neutrogena, Aveeno, and other brands. My skin has never fit a particular category; its prone to breakouts, blotchy, dries out like the ...
Pros: "Clean scent", smooth texture, relatively easy process. Hmmm....I ran out Cons: Inconvenient packaging, not enough product, and let's not forget the price!
If you're looking for a quick rundown here were my main problems with this product (a more extensive one will follow): - Even though it's a "combination therapy", the product was not distributed evenly. In other words I ran out of two of the products ...
I have been battling with acne and blemished for about 8 years now, and have tried numerous products throughout my life, every time hoping it would be the answer to my bad skin. After giving a try to everything I (and my friends and relatives) could ...
Pros: Works. Easy. Cons: Time Consuming. Hurts. Expensive.
I have to tell you, I am under 18 and I get zits all of the time. When it was really bad, my mom found and add on Proactive and when we got it, I was surprised and hurt at the same time.
Pros: Heals skin and keeps skin clear Cons: Dries out face and initially breaks skin out before it clears it up.
I have been fighting acne for years, since I was in middle school. It has been a long battle and I have tried everything, including Acuttane, and nothing ever kept me clear.
I thought Neutrogena was doing a pretty good job until I found a...
Just like most people that have ever tried Proactive, I was hooked by the infomercial. I've always had oily skin and large pores, so acne is an important issue in my life. I was very excited when my package arrived, and I tried the regiment...
Pros: light weight, pleasant scent, easy to use Cons: may bleach clothes and hair
Proactive Solution Repairing lotion is the third step in the Proactiv Solution Sytem. When used together, the products in the system work together to clear up skin, and keep future break outs at bay. The Repairing Lotion comes packaged in a 2 fluid ...
Pros: Convenience; Combination skincare system Cons: Too mainstreamed for optimal individual results? Un-manly scent; Results somewhat disappointing
I began using this system, which included cleanser, toner, repairing lotion, and mask when i started getting breakouts around when it first came out (1998?). I like the fact that it uses a combination treatment plan (ie use of several products which...
Pros: light, non-drying Cons: expensive, cheaper product can easily substitude.
I was a user of the system when I was in my teens a couple of years back. It took me 3 sets of Proactive for me to realize that it wasn't working for me. All the TV commercials were so convincing, with the celebrities and testimonials, I had to try ...
Pros: worked great for about a year Cons: zits are significantly WORSE after you stop using it!! DRIES YOUR SKIN severely..
I used this product with the toner, but I never used it with the cleanser because when i did it dried my skin to a crisp. The repairing lotion worked phenomenally for a little over a year. My skin was never "bad", I just suffered from a breakout or two ...
Pros: did make skin look healthier Cons: had to buy through mail, and it didn't really help clear up skin
My husband suffers from cystic acne, and we have tried just about every over the counter medication there is, so when we saw this advertised we decided we had to give it a try. After all it looked good on the TV, but like they say if it looks to good,...
Pros: By far the BEST treatment I've used (and I've used MANY) Cons: Still have few pimples from time to time, but very RARELY
I've been plagued with acne ever since my early teens. It wasn't terrible, but it was certainly enough to cause me to worry about my appearance. What girl would want to deal with pimples? I went through a series of treatments. I started small,...
Pros: It will clear up a blemish overnight! Cons: Can be extremely drying and irritating if too much is used.
Although this review is regarding the Proactiv Solution Repairing Lotion, I will also be rating the product as part of the Proactiv Solution system and the process necessary for purchasing the product.
Pros: Lotion keeps skin well-balanced, clear, and rosey except for those darn PMS spots Cons: Expensive, long wait for real results, and bleaches clothing/fabric
I only use the lotion. It doesn't dry out my skin like most over-the-counter products, the majority of which aren't targeted for adult acne. Proactive requires patience, though. I noticed minor improvements in the first couple of weeks (like my skin felt...
Pros: The three steps are easy to use. Cons: Cost and the need to order product by mail.
I am 37 and have been battling adult acne. My doctors blame the acne on hormonal problems. My skin was gorgeous in my 20's. My dermatologist originally had me on minocycline and cleocin-T lotion. I saw some improvement but I continued to have breakouts...
Pros: Very effective, with the 3 step system my acne is totally under control. Cons: Have to purchase in the 3 step system, not individually, not in stores.
I am 33 and started using Proactiv last year, I only wished I started it eons ago. I wouldn't rate myself as having severe acne, a mild to moderate case that is worse in the summer & during warmer weather.
As you know, I'm a huge fan of Proactiv's products. In August, I became a daily user of their products. There are four products in the kit which can be bought as a kit or purchased individually. It does end up being a little more cost effective for...
Pros: clean face Cons: burnt face, harrassed by company
When I first saw the infomercial I thought that this product was AMAZING! I thought it was a great offer worth the price and it came with a money back guaranteed policy. It seemed like I waited forever to get my product in the mail and when I finally...
My experience with this product has been positive. I am 35 and have, until recently, suffered from sporadic adult acne. I have red hair, fair skin, and fairly large pores. My worst points were the sides of my chin and nose. After using this product for...
Pros: Full refund, clears up blemishes, moisturizes your skin while making your pimples less noticeable Cons: may have adverse effects, may irritate or dry skin
Well I first started using ProActive and I liked my results. After three to four months it stopped working and I had acne again, but I think the lotion is the best part of the 3-step program.
Pros: Worked for the first couple of weeks Cons: Made my acne the worst ever in my life
I've always had acne, so does my lil' brother who is in his teens. My mom had acne when she was younger, and still suffers from the occassional and painful adult type.Runs in the family, as you can understand.
Pros: Silky feeling, good under makeup Cons: Will bleach clothes--especially collars
Proactiv Solution Repairing Lotion is a silky medicated lotion that has helped control my blemishes. I have suffered from bad skin for 18 years (since I turned 11) and have tried: Oxy/Clearasil/Neutrogena etc, antibiotics (pills and topicals), Retin-A,...
Well I've using proactive for about one and a half year now. I'm am not blemish free, and I still get breakouts all the time. It's annoying because my T-zone is oily while My cheeks get dry especially in the winter. I wanted a product that was effective,...
Pros: very effective, does what it promises Cons: slightly time consuming
I am a big fan and a firm believer in the Pro Activ skin care line. I have been using this product for awhile now, and from the first few times I used it, there was a VERY noticeable difference in my skin. My face used to break out all the time, and...
Pros: Works in short amount of time Cons: expensive and the bottles are small
Okay, I'm not one to believe ANYTHING I see on TV. Especially stuff they try to sell on infomercials. Sure I watch them, but only as entertainment. Then I saw the Proactive one. Don't get me wrong, they didn't completely get me. But after about a...
Pros: It really works, leaves skin feeling great, easy 3 step treatment Cons: must be used everyday for the rest of your life, not available in stores
Wow! Oh the blessed infomercial. The products usually stink, the acting is terrible and they always hook you right away. Out of the blue here comes the most amazing skin care line I have ever purchased. Proactive is the only effective acne treatment that...
Pros: zits go AWAY!, skin looks less oily. Cons: smells weird, not BAD, you have to get used to it. may dry skin a little @ first, bleaches cloth
this stuff is awesome. i have very oily skin and the first time i used it i thought to myself, "oh no.. LOTION! i am going to be an oil monster!" but the thing is, it absorbs into the skin quickly and leaves it feeling awesome. it got rid of...
Pros: Money back guarantee Cons: Is that you get your expectation up
My daughter suffered with acne for several years.Time after time I watched the Proactiv infomercial and wondered would it work for my teenage daughter. The pictures shown on the infomercial were dramatic and made promises that seemed well, promising. One of...
Pros: Cleared up my face (sort of). Made my skin texture feel smother and look healthy Cons: Do not use lotion 2 times a day can make skin have a burning sensation
I tried the proactive solution and found that It is very important, especially in the summer to wear sunscreen over the repairing solution or you will get sunburnt. I live in Arizona. I had a habit of doing so already. I don't want to look 55 at age...
Pros: It really works! Cons: Not available in stores and expensive, but worth it.
I am 24 and I have had acne since I was in 7th grade. I have tried every over the counter treatment for acne that was ever made and all I got was red, blotchy, dry skin. The only thing those products did not do was clear up my acne. I even went to a...
Pros: Pros?!? Yeah right! Cons: Causes over drying of the skin. Dermatologist said it's a rip off and damages skin.
Proactiv is costly and does not work. Sure it works for some people, but you have to have a certain type of skin. Three dermatologists I have talked to said that Proactiv is a rip off and it damages the skin more than repairs it. Go to your dermatologist...
Pros: It worked for me.
Cons: Excessive drying during adjustment period & I didn't have Proactive when I was a teenager.
Clear skin for the first time since I was twelve years old. I started getting acne when I was thirteen years old. On my thirtieth birthday I said to my wife "You would think I'd have outgrown this by now." Shortly thereafter she suggested I try the ...
Pros: light lotion, with no smelly "acne" medication odor. Cons: just didn't work for me...
I am in my mid thirties and have suffered from moderate acne since I was ten years old. I thought I would give the Proactive line a try since the infomercial was so convincing. Based on the numerous reviews submitted about these acne products, there ...
Pros: I don't remember. Cons: I didn't see any improvement. Expensive.
I have purchased ProActiv once. The TV commercial looked great but it did not work on me. The TV commercial shows several people with terrible acne and their improvements with Proavtiv as if it works on everybody, but in my experience, I think almost...
Pros: Quick, simple and acne free. Worth the price Cons: Costs is high and varies
Acne usually happens to teens but it bypassed me and came along just recently. I'm 24 years old and a couple months ago, my face started breaking out and blackheads would come in the same spot right after one left. Of course, you see the Proactive ...
Pros: They have stars doing their advertising. Cons: Extreme dryness
Burns the skin for days after use
Expensive
Emphasizes WRINKLES!!!!
So I have never had bad acne but I do have large pores and an uneven skin tone. I was told about proactive from a friend who suggested it. I waited for the order to show up and as soon as it did I opened it and tried the 3 step process. At first it ...
Pros: They have cool infomercials. Cons: very drying to the skin
You know, I wish I had something better to say about Proactiv because I like P-Diddy and Kelly Clarkson and I know that their commercials are part of their meal ticket. But I digress. I really didn't like the way this worked. Now, It could just be my ...
I am a 26 year old wife and a mother of a 2-year-old. Ever since I was 16 I would get these under the skin blemishes. I went to a dermatologist, used every blemish and face wash cream on the market and nothing would help, some even made it worse. By the...
Pros: Clears up blackheads/pimples/painful acne Cons: Takes a while for it to completely work.
Like many of you, I cried when watching Judith Light talk to the victims of acne on the Proactive Infomercial. I watched it numerous time before finally calling the 1-800 number. With my terrible face I finally decided I didn't have much to lose! I...
Pros: Easy, WORKS GREAT, Cheaper than medication and support services...
Cons: The people that give it a bad name because the can't follow instructions...OR read?
****UPDATED**** Well, here I am! I have always felt the need to look better - especially seeing I have started my Tupperware(r) Business and I have to have people look at me and what was my horrendous skin problem.... I saw the television ads that ...
Pros: only small amount of Benzoyl Peroxide Cons: expensive, not for everyone's skin and living style
When I entered university, I noticed my roommate always kept Proactive Solution system on the left side of the sink. I grew more curious as each day I saw the products sitting on the bathroom counter and watching the commercials in TV. One day I was ...
Pros: Evens out skin tone. Cons: Excessive dryness, increased breakouts, expensive, and not readily available.
After trying countless products to help decrease my acne, I decided to go ahead and try this Proactiv 3 step treatment program. The cleanser is great if you already have clean skin, but is does not take off makeup. I have to use another cleanser first...
Pros: Makes your pores appear smaller. Nice glow effect. Love the fragrance. Cons: I'm still left with the "harsh" acne. Mail. Bottles too small.
I was so excited to get the proactive solution kit. At first my skin had this new glow to it, my pores seemed smaller, and there was less oil on my skin.
But this was it, my blemishes/acne didn't go away. Not even the mild acne. I was...
About two years ago my acne was totally out of control and it seemed my dermatologist couldn't even help me. I saw the infomercial for Proactive and convinced my parents to at least give it a shot. When it came I was so excited, but quickly was...
I am not one to buy things advertised on tv. I was curious to try and even cut corners the first time I bought it by going to ebay so I wouldn't be on their mailing list. I paid $39. A few months later I decided I liked it so much that I would get on ...
I thought it was worth trying this because of their no risk money back guarantee. I tried it within the time they specified and it didn't work, I saw no change in almost a month. I sent it back for a refund and for over a year they have ignored my...
I have used Proactive on and off for 10 years. It was the best thing without a Rx. I am 42 y.o. and have adult acne. Proactive keeps in "under control," yet I always have at least one blemish and I still get an occasional giant, under-the-skin, ...
Pros: enticing advertisement, money back guarantee Cons: it's too expensive
Who doesn't want flawless skin?? You see all these amazing results in the proactive solutions advertisements and you're CONVINCED it'll work for you too. It's not all that complicated ok..... All it is, is a three step program that sets a person on a...
Pros: If your acne is minor, you will see a difference. Cons: It will do nothing if you have cystic acne. Semi-expensive.
Proactiv products are great and do help clear some types of acne. However, let me emphasize some. If you suffer from white heads, black heads or the occasional red flare up, and your skin is not ultra sensitive, I would recommend all three of the...
Pros: Cheap, Effective, non-painful, great complexion as a result. Cons: Such small bottles
I am 14 years old and my face wasn't clear. I went to the dermatologist and he percribed some medication (I think called Differin) which was terrible! Yes, it started to clear up my face but it dryed it out completely in the process and KILLED me when I...
Pros: None at all Cons: Everything - too much money for something so ineffective
I was excited to try this stuff since I saw on TV how so many people were miraculously cured of their acne with it. After two months of use, I was disappointed. The treatment left my skin dry, but with the same amount of acne as I had before. I do not...
Pros: Smell was good. Nice lotion consistency. Worked effectively. Cons: Expensive. Didn't have enough product for 60 day period.
I started using ProActiv about four months ago. The very first day I used it, I thought my face felt softer. I was quick and easy to use and it went on very smoothly. You only need to use a small amount, and it takes a few days to adjust to the amount...
Pros: Works quickly and effectively. Easy to use and many products to purchase. Cons: Too much emphasis on becoming "Club Member" and a bit pricey
Proactive Solution really did work! I recommend it highly!

Pros: Skin was clear while on product Cons: Bleach spots on clothes and skin got addicted
I used this product for 8 years. Yes, 8 years!!! We had just moved to the Northwest from the desert and the humidity was making my acne worse than ever. I was meeting new people and felt so embarassed by my skin. I saw the infomercial and decided to ...
Pros: None that I could see! Cons: Price, deceptive advertising, size of product, return policies. I could go on and on!
This is by far the worst case of misleading product endorsement of all time. I should have known better than to buy a product being hocked by Judith Light, who is probably one of the biggest hack actreses, and in possession of the worst hair in...
Pros: Clears up pimples fast and leaves skin soft Cons: Bleaches towels, expensive, still get blemishes
I generally have clear skin with one or two pimples every couple of weeks. I wanted to try Proactive, because I was getting married and thought it would be something good to use just in case. I started using it at least four months before the big day ...
Pros: Nice scent and good at treating and preventing acne Cons: Can cause burning and peeling if used too often.
This lotion is moisturizing, smells good, and treats and prevents acne well. It came in the $40 Proactiv kit. It is a very small 2 oz. bottle but seems to last a long time. This lotion contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, so it can be drying. I used it too...
Pros: within a day you will have fewer pimples Cons: has a slight chemical smell
I unfortunitly come from a family prone to adult acne and sensitive skin. After going to the dermatologist and trying over the counter treatments, I had no results just very red skin and at times my skin would peel and be very sore for days. My...
Pros: Refreshing, clean feel. Does not irritate skin. Cons: Hardly does anything that a face wash wouldn't do.
I saw all the infomercials, and even though the price was a little steep for me, I thought if Proactiv really worked like it promised, it would have been the best $50 I ever would have spent. I followed all the steps very carefully, and could feel my...
Pros: Didn't seem to be harsh
Smelled great
Left face soft
Easy 3-step process
Cons: Expensive
Didn't work as well as they claim
I have moderate adult acne and have tried several things. I had tried Proactive a few years ago but was too impatient and never stuck to it. I had given up after only 2 weeks (or less) of using it. I hadn't seen any results, as a matter of fact the acne ...
Pros: Actually works.
Easy to use.
Doesn't smell strong.
Available on ebay!
Cons: Expensive!
Proactiv (there is no "e" on the end!!) Lotion is wonderful. I am an older woman who has had blemishes all my life. I was even on Accutane--and my face still broke out.
Proactiv Lotion let's me be in control of my skin and its blemishes. I can't...
Pros: Improved skin condition. Cons: Did not live up to claims. Expensive.
I used the product for about five months. I used this with the entire Proactiv system, so I would recommend others to do the same. I have pretty sensitive skin and I did not have any initial adverse reactions (such as dryness or increase in breakouts)....
Pros: Somewhat Effective Cons: Blimishes keep coming back
I have been using this product for three months now, and I am very soon going to stop my automatic shipments. This product was only slightly effective in improving my skin. The problem is that my pimples keep coming back. New ones just pop up all of...
Pros: Doesn't sting and burn real bad- its gentle Cons: expensive and confusing at first
I started using the product about 2 months ago and I've been using it ever since. At first it was a tad confusing but you'll get the hang of it after the first couple days. You just have to be careful about using the 3 bottles evenly at a time because it...
Pros: Medicating, effective Cons: a little hard on sensitive skin, bleaches your linen
If you read my review on the cleanser, then you know that I've had to revise my epinion after I paid better attention to the system after consistent use. I used Proactiv inconsistently for over a year. Even though I had begun to use it consistently in...
Pros: Deep cleaning and worth its value Cons: Price may be a little steep
I've been using this product for 8 months now and have noticed a remarkable change. I first noticed the difference within a couple of weeks. It is amazing to see your skin look so healthy and rejuvinated! The deep cleansing formula feels so good on...
Well, where do I start? I ordered the product after watching countless infomercials. Like me, Judith Light had acne too. And the testimonials!
It finally arrived on a Wednesday. Out of the box, I was disappointed by the small sizes, but I...
I am thirty years old and I have had acne problems all my life. About two years ago my sister purchased Proactive for me as a surprise gift, boy was I surprised. Proactive has changed my life.
Pros: doesn't dry out your skin Cons: expensive, didn't work for me
I bought this product as a desperate attempt to help clear my skin. I have had acne for about 8 years all through my preteen and teen years. Now I am a young adult and still trying to find a cure. Of course, like many of you I saw the commercial for the...
I purchased this product after trying my sister's set during my first pregnancy. I don't have acne, but I had a severe breakout problem due to hormonal changes.
This product is the best acne-fighting solution I have ever used. It works well...
Pros: none Cons: irritating to skin. no blemish control
I am 21 years old and still have a problem with acne. It started when I was 12 and hasn't stopped. So when I ordered the Proactive Treatment kit I was so excited to finally get rid of all the blemishes on my face. The advertisement had so many...
Pros: It works Cons: Mail order but you can go on scheduled mailings - $$
I saw this advertised on TV. At first I was skeptical but after many tries with OTC lotions and prescriptions I figured, why not. I started seeing results after just a week. The first sign was I did not get any more breakouts especially during my period....
I first bought Proactive back in 1995 when I started seeing ads about it on tv. I was 23 at the time and had been dealing with moderate to severe acne from the age of 13. I'd been to 6 different dermatologists over the course of 10 years and had used ever ...
The BEST skincare ever! by simplysabby ,Oct 02 '04
Pros: Fast results, it does NOT irritate my skin at all. Cons: I personally to not think there is anything negative to say about these products.
I have tried everything from OTC, Rx's...including Accutane!
Practive Solution Repairing Lotion is my favorite of them all. I do really love the rest of the products too. I would tell anyone to try it. You can find these products on eBay alot cheaper than anywhere else. GOOD LUCK!!!
Pros: Lightweight, non greasy, fresh scent. Cons: None
After you wash your face and use the toner the third and final step. The repairing lotion, this lotion is very light weight and non greasy. It leaves no residue on your skin and really clears it up. So all in all, all 3 products together combine for one heck of a skincare package, and for 46.00 what a steal.
Pros: Scrub makes skin softer and brighter. Cons: No effect whatsoever on acne and blackheads. WAY TOO time consuming.
I bought ProActive hoping to clear up the blackheads and bumps on my forehead. I don't suffer from severe acne, but I'm 37 and really tired of oily, bumpy skin, not to mention oodles of blackheads all over my face. Did it work? NO! And it made my face worse. To top it off, when I called to cancel, they talked me into their extra-strength version for free (now why don't they offer that in the first place?) and sent it to the wrong address! Needless to say I am no longer a member/user.
Pros: Evens skin tone, nice smell Cons: Doesn't work like it should for the $
I was soo excited to try this! I have struggled with zits for about 8 years now, and while they aren't "out of control" I never have a clear face. The first couple of weeks, it really seemed to be clearing up...my pores started to look clearer and everything! But after that, I still got zits, same amount. It seemed like they were so much more noticable, I think because the skin tone was more even and the GIANT RED SPOTS stood out een more. However, after the first shipment, I had seen not much of a result. But, I thought I would wait for my second treatment. Now, I was going on 3 months of Pro Activ and I cancelled. They give you the 3rd degree when you cancel, but who cares. I will probably try the Walmart generic when I'm all out of this crap. Oh one thing, the pore refining sulfur mask is awesome....I will probably still buy it.
Sexy skin, thanks to Proactiv! by girl2nv ,Dec 10 '04
Pros: It actually works, puts OTC solutions to SHAME!! Cons: The cost
My job requires me to be in front of people all the time, so I needed something to clear my mild-moderate acne...
After 2 days (I'm NOT KIDDING) Proactiv is already improving my skin. Plus, it feels like silk. My secret: Since it can be very over-drying, I use the toner very sparingly. I dab it where my chronic breakouts USED to be, and it does the trick. The cleanser makes my skin so smooth and soft, and the lotion is awesome. I don't care what anyone says, you will not find over-the-counter products that even come close to Proactiv's success. I love it!!!
It smooths and clears your skin by bellakitty74 ,Apr 24 '05
Pros: Helps bad skin, smooths the texture of your skin, good value. Cons: sometimes fades my pillow cases. Who cares when you have great skin!
I try to use it every day. If my skin starts getting dry, broken out and clogged looking (because I've been forgetting to use it), I slather it all over my face before bed and wake up with such healthier looking skin. I wish I knew about it sooner, I've been using it for a little over a year now.
A thin layer under your make-up before the day starts keeps you face clear and fresh looking all day. It's worth the money.
Pros: For the first three days my skin felt smooth. Cons: Made my skin dry and very irritated.
I'm a 30 yr old woman with mild to moderate acne. I tried proactive for the first time and wow, my skin was great...for the first 4 days.
After the 5th or 6th day, my skin felt dry and itchy. I wasn't applying too much and sometimes I skipped the Repairing Lotion to every other day.
After a week, my skin was in bad shape. The acne had almost doubled on my skin, it was red and bumpy and ITCHY!! I've used many different products before, ones that had benzoyl peroxide but NEVER did it irritate my skin like Proactive.
After all, acne comes from beneath the surface and rears it's ugly head on your skin.
Since I've never had a reaction like the one I had with Proactive, it made me afraid to ever try it again. Maybe some people are just not responsive to this stuff because I've heard more good than bad about this product.
i sit here after just wakeing up in the mourning, every dad and nitice no change, i dont notice anything getting worse, i just notice ABSOLUTELY no change in my cace at all......the benzoyl peroxide irritates my skin and makes my face more red than ever...and i have a hard time looking at myself in a flourecant light, seeing only little red acne spots all over my face. The proactive solution is useless as far as me and and my acne filled face are concerned. I wanna sit down and scream at rodan and fields, the two worst dermetologists on the planet. I would never recomend this to a friend, NEVER...
My advice for rodan and fields, go and meet dr. Murad and his acne complex system, becuase unlike your pathetic system, it works. It makes promises that it can fufill and not leave people with acne every day like me. Do not buy this, it is to much money...if it worked as well as they said it does, maybe i would pay twice the price for it, but it is worth as much as the plastic bottles are worth, because the stuff inside is worthless waste....
Pros: Takes no time to apply, and no horrible smell Cons: Dries out the skin
I haven't had problems with acne very long. It's only been since I started taking a new medication that i've had to endure this horrible affliction. After about 2 months of trying other products, such as Neutrogena Acne Wash, and Oil Of Olay Facial Cleansers with absolutely no results, I decided to go ahead and buy the proactive solution system off the shopping channel (was even able to pay in 2 installments!). I have been using this product for about a month now, and my acne has drastically changed. It isn't gone completely, as my medication won't seem to allow it. But it has helped tremendously.
This is the third step of the Proactiv Solution system, and the easiest. After you wash with the cleanser, and use the toner just dab a bit on your fingers and rub onto face. The instructions on the bottle are very clear, no way to make a mistake.
My face started to dry out from this product, so i started to use an oil free moisturiser afterwards, and it has helped alot. My face no longer gets dry and flacky!
Horribly dried out my skin. Not worth the price...not worth any price. I seriously HATED this product and the entire line of "proactiv"! I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone!...maybe my enemies. I felt so mad at my self for letting my self be fooled by those infomercials. What a rip off....please do me a favor and DON'T use this line of products...to expensive, not worth it, dries skin out horribly, and frankly it sucks!
Pros: cleans face
stops breakouts Cons: Can dry out skin
Have to have regular shipments
This is one of the best products I've ever found and have been using it for several years. This was the only facial product I've found to help with breaking out and I've even tried prescription medication. For a period of time it made my face so dry that it was flaking but that went away.
I wish I could have just ordered a supply when I'd run out because I didn't use it enough I guess and kept piling up new unopened boxes. I've canceled my account for now since I have enough for the rest of the year right now.
Pros: Worked for a while Cons: Expensive, stopped working
To be breif about this, I tried it a few years ago and it worked well on my acne. It is very drying and peeled my skin at first but when I saw acne going away I stuck with it. I then got it a few years later and found that my skin had become used to the peroxide and no longer worked to get rid of the acne. The best advice I can give is try to cheaper drug store brand. It works exactly the same.
Pros: AMAZING. Cons: expensive, but worth every penny.
I have been using Proactv for about a year and it saved my face. However, I found that the lotion is the secret to Proactiv's success. If you carefully pair a good exfoliating cleanser with the repairing lotion, you will see the same results as using all 3 steps of the Proactiv system. I recommend Aveeno daily cleansing pads (Much cheaper!!). They have been working for me for about 5 months and as long as I continue to use the repairing lotion every night....perfection. Forget the toner. You don't need it.
Pros: none Cons: bleached towels, expensive, made acne worse and all over
I never really had acne...just annoying trouble zones. I got proactive (expensive) and sometimes it seemed to work for a while. Then my acne got really bad, it looked like I had gotten a rash, it was so embarrassing. I now have acne all over my face and it is soo hard to cover with makeup because of how dry proactive makes your face. I regret staying with it for so long, I don't know why but it was addicting. I would suggest not using especially if you can find a cheaper substitute.
Pros: you see result very fast, easy to apply, doesn't smell as bad as other products Cons: expensive if bought outside of the USA in my case in Canada
I have been using proactive for over a year and this product has cleared my skin. I used to have really bad acne all over my face and right now people can't even tell i had it. Even though i only used once a day(at night) i got great results
Once you start, you have to continue using this!!! by ginarina ,Oct 31 '06
Pros: If you have oily skin with regular breakouts, this lotion will change your life. Cons: My skin becomes bumpy all over if I skip a treatment or two.
I started using Proactive Repairing Solution about 15 years ago and have used it every day ever since. Actually, I started it with the other steps however the Repairing Lotion was the most effective product.
My final review for the 3-piece Proactiv system. I bought the one-month supply at a special "reduced" price and I am pleased with the results. The repairing lotion replenishes any dryness from the toner on my oily skin. After it dries I can't help touching my super soft and smooth skin. I really love the feel after using all three steps and my skin has improved significantly.
Probably works on skin for some - but made my skin (and kids) feel tight and like a mild sunburn. I do not have sensitive skin, but one kid does. It is very drying and caused me to extremely dry spots on my face that looked similar to mild peeling from a sunburn.
It's works but don't but via mail by deviltails ,Apr 04 '05
Pros: Proactiv works instantly; mild scent; saw immediate results; my skin is clear and acne-free Cons: Ordering through mail automatically enrolls you into the company's "membership"
Proactiv is a great product. When I stopped taking birth control pills, my skin took a turn for the worse. I noticed a difference after 5 or 6 days of using the product.
If possible, I suggest buying this product at a kiosk at your local mall. If you order through mail, you're automatically enrolled in the Proactiv "membership" program, where they send you a refill every 3 months. I found that I still had over 1/2 of the bottles left, so I returned it. The company will credit my card upon receipt, but I had to pay for twice for shipping for a product I did not use (approximately $13.00.
This doesn't work for everybody by visanta ,Dec 16 '06
Pros: It's worth a try if it will get rid of yours. Cons: I know it doesn't work for many, just look at the reviews.
Contrary to what the infomercial would have you believe: this doesn't work for everybody.
I have tried it TWICE. The first time about 6 years ago. I did everything right and my skin actually became worse.
About a year ago I saw a commercial again and it was just so convincing. I convinced my self I just didn't give it a real shot, that maybe I should have tried it longer...etc.
WRONG, I did everything right, gave it 3 months and it made my skin worse, again.
Proactive Solution is Awesome by cici_63 ,Nov 20 '03
Pros: works great, doesn't leave skin dry Cons: relatively expensive
Proactive Solution is the best acne remedy i have ever used. In fact, it is the only product that has ever really worked for me. I have been using it for 3 years now,and it'd be hard to get me to use something different.
JUST GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST by vdawg829628 ,Jun 21 '05
Pros: At first skin appeared clearer, less blackheads. Cons: Eventually, prolonged use made my skin break out even worse.
I first tried Proactiv in November of 04' and it seemed to work good at first, it cleared up all my blackheads and made my skin smoother. After I ran out of it, I figured I'd go buy some more because my skin was looking great. Well...I continued my Proactiv routine and it seemed like my skin got used to it and it was no longer effective on my pimples. Eventually, my skin became really dry and tight feeling and I started breaking out more (probably b/c of the Benzoyl Peroxide). After I noticed my skin was getting worse, I quit using Proactiv and started using Neutrogena products and my skin is now under control. I don't think Proactiv is worth the money or the time you spend putting this stuff on. My advice is to just go see a dermatologist because they will know what is right for your skin, not all people are meant to use Proactiv. My boyfriend used it before too and it also made his acne worse.
Proactive aggreviates your skin and makes your acne worse by josey1983 ,Nov 17 '05
Pros: Nothing really...comes in an attractive bottle Cons: all of the above, plus it is expensive
Not only the lotion, but the whole product, i think is BOGUS. Yes it might work for some people, but it doesnt work for everyone...dont believe the commercials. Proactive makes your face extremely uncomfortable and it hurts you even more. I had acne b4 i started using it but as soon as i started my face became reallly dry and itchy....then i noticed i started to develop new painful bumps...intially i thot it was the process and it will eventually clear but it didnt. The acne increased 10 folds...i decided to stick to it for a month...at the end my complexion became uneven and my face looked burnt...also my acne was the worse it had ever been in my life. It was also really painful. Trust me guys...proactive is crap....it makes ur acne WORSE. I think the ingredients are just to harsh and i guess it aggreviates the skin.
My dad bought this product for me when I kept complaining about my acne a little while ago. A lot of my friends were using it saying they had incredible results and I was somewhat lured in by the advertisement (I mean come on Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears use it).
I got him to order Proactive for me and I totally regret it. The price was expensive but I had the mentality of "if it's expensive, it probably works." I used it for a couple months and in the first month I saw results. My acne cleared up and my skin was smoother. I continued using the product for another month and I broke out like none other. It just stopped working all of a sudden. I told my dad to cancel the entire thing, which made him happy because he didn't have to make those ridiculous payments, and I still deal with acne but it's not as severe when I used Proactive.
Pros: Give it time, it works! Cons: COST! Buy it from Ebay, and not from the ProActiv site.
At first, I was one of the highly skeptical viewers of the ProActiv infomercials, but I became a believer of this particular product. I am a 27 year old female, and I have been suffering from acne break outs on most parts of my body (head, neck, back, shoulders, chest). I tried ProActiv for eight months, and it really did help me. I saw a reduction in the scars I already had, and I also had a reduction in the amount of acne I would get. My skin felt smoother, and I looked A LOT better! When I photographed, I would not see the acne like I used to.
To all of those who really want an esteem boost and to look and feel better, take some time and money to do the ProActiv routine, it really does work.
Pros: helps non hormone effected areas to be softer and smoother Cons: simply doesn't work on hormonally effected acne
I have been using proactive twice a day for about 2 months and I can't say that it has helped very much. My acne is deffinatly hormonal and it shows up on the lower part of my face. I will say that proactive has helped out the parts of my face that are not effected by my hormones. for example, Any minor pore clogs or bumps on my forehead or nose are totally cleared up and that skin is really clear and smooth. However my lower cheeks and chin (hormone effected)have shown little to no improvement. If you just have finicky, oily skin that needs a good daily detox then maybe this product can help you. However in my case, it's been rather useless. Everyones skin is different, but in my opinion if you have acne that is heavily determined by your hormones this product is not gonna do much to stop that cause the problem is really an internal one.
My Favorite Beauty/Health Product by feefsk ,Sep 01 '05
Pros: Skin cleared immediately after I started using, and stayed clear for about a year. Cons: Difficult to travel with because of their size. However, wonderful travel system can be bought.
I've been using Proactiv for about a year, and have never been happier with a beauty product. I get compliments on how wonderful my skin looks. I very rarely have a breakout, and the ones I have are tiny, and don't last very long. I will never switch to another facial cleansing system. I would recommend this product to anyone.
Not at all what I thought! by drenmyr77 ,Dec 01 '05
Pros: none Cons: doesn't work. too much money. better off buying cheap stuff from the grocery store!
This does not work. The lotion makes my face oily. I have not seen improvement at all. Company treats customers crappy. (I was charge to send shipment back that was sent to me automatically). They don't tell you the truth.
proactive repairing lotion by sandraturnerx ,Aug 05 '08
Pros: a waste of time and postage Cons: very misleading
I have been using proactive 4 step for a little over 2 weeks now and there is no change. I'm extremely upset I really need relief at a good price. I'm so tired of these breakouts and blemishes. The only reason i'm not really ticked off is because of the 60 day money back risk free trial.I also forgot there is no lather to the wash so my face never felt clean
Pros: It's Wonderful, truly clears skin Cons: Can be a tiny tiny tiny bit drying.
I'm in my early 20's and I only break out in my t-zone. After seeing many of my friends use it and watching the commercials on t.v. I decided to give it a try. And only after a week of using this product, my face has cleared up faster than anything else I've ever used. My skin is smooth and shiny. I am so happy with the result from using this product already, I can only imagine what this product will do for me as time goes by.
