Pros: kills 99.9% of germs on contact
Cons: the only con I see is that it has to be reapplied
Being a compulsive gambler, I often touch money or chips that are not cleaned after immediate usage. This unsanitary condition leads to germs being passed around on a regular basis. Money is one of the easiest ways to spread germs. Think about it. How ...

by maceyr Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 06 '05
Pros: Very portable, light, handy. Dries quickly, leaving hands clean. Easy to use.
Cons: May dry your hands if used too frequently since it contains alcohol.
I wasn't aware of this until about a year ago and even then, it never occurred to me that it would be so handy for travel. But nowadays, I keep a small bottle on me to sanitize my hands wherever I am, especially after I've been at a public place, like ...

Pros: It's easy to use; cleans my hands; effective.
Cons: Alcohol can be drying even with their System.
I have 2-ounce bottles of Purell everywhere. I have a small bottle in each car (three); I have one in my pocket book and in any and every back pack I take. Although I also wash my hands a lot and I had a flu shot I can’t remember the last time I ...

I Teach Microbiology. . . .Pass Me the SOAP, Please

by sshelle Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Mar 27 '04
Pros: kills the current bacteria; convenient if you're in the Sahara
Cons: doesn't kill anything after it's evaporated; when are you NOT near water?
Yes, this stuff works. It works because it contains alcohol. It is immediately effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, viruses, and fungi. So why don't I use it? 1) It's not persistent. Its effects don't last after the ...

by tsshakes , Jan 14 '04
Pros: Doesn't dry out hands, convenient.
Cons: Smells like alcohol before it dries.

Convenient - but not for frequent use

by mtrenck , Mar 14 '08
Pros: Convenient and fast method of cleaning.
Cons: Harsh chemical, rough on hands.
I have to disagree with the first review. Although this is a very convenient method of making sure your hands are clean, I find the GoJo Purell products too harsh on my hands. Working as a Paramedic in a local hospital, I find myself washing my hands ...

Cons: Leaves hands gummy and dries out skin

I keep the small bottle in my purse, you never know when you'll need it.
by justgreen ,Oct 02 '06
Pros: It's easily carried, whether in your car or purse and even in your coat pocket.
Cons: It is a bit drying. Maybe Purell should make an anti-biotic lotion.
This way, when I go to a public restroom, I can sanitize my hands even after I've washed them. Everything has germs in a bathroom, from the handle on the toilet , to the door as you are leaving.

I keep the HUGE bottle on the counter by the sink. If I've cleaned the cat's litter box, I'll wash my hands with antibiotic soap and then apply the Purell and let it dry.

I love the stuff. I've been buying it for years and hope it's never discontinued.
