Pros: Three layers of chew action; No artificial colors or flavors Cons: Dog would not eat; is gathering dust and will become squirrel fodder
I am usually game to try out new treats and snack products for my poochie, and have found most of them go over great once they leave the bag and find their way into my dog's mouth. When I purchased the Purina Busy Chewnola chew bone I ...

best find ever!!
by bmmcgar ,Jul 15 '09
Pros: Long lasting, smells good, fairly inexpensive Cons: Sticky once outer coating is gone. Granola may be too tough for 'sensitive' chewers.
I have 3 dogs with different tastes and chewing habits, so I am always trying new things. I decided to try these doggy 'granola bars'. All 3 LOVE them! The outer edge, the actual granola, is a little tough to get through, but a tough chewer should have no issues. I have one dog who eats just the outside and leaves the center, which resembles a Charleston Chew candy bar, for his mother.

My dog loved them
by hwiedman ,May 08 '09
Pros: Dog loves them. Likes to eat layer by layer. Cons: little bits and pieces remaining on carpet( however this is pretty much from any treat)
It's been very difficult to find a treat my dog would eat. Normally anything over a small meaty bone she walks around cries and hides them. However she LOVES these. My dog is around 70 lbs. Doesn't last for hours but i would say 30/45 mins. Can't find them in local stores. Hopefully they will become more available.

Two Damn Fools
by spclaytor ,Jun 26 '09
Pros: They LOVE the taste. The layer make this an active food. Healthier than most treats. Cons: Slightly to big. The outside gets sticky after the girls lick on them awhile.
I have two shihtzu females and they can not get enough of these chewnolas. Twice the youngest has gone into near panic trying to hide her bone so her sister won't find it while she go outside to go potty. the oldest took her nap snugged up with her chewnola bone. I happened acrossed this producted and that it was a cool idea. I am stocking up on these just in case!! The only thing that would make this treat better is if the bones were slightly smaller. I can handle the girls acting a fool, but it's going to take them awhile to get through these.

Apparently it needs time to 'season'
by sannahs ,Jul 26 '09
Pros: It sounds healthy & she loved it once she began chewing it. Cons: The stickiness! The fur around her face is very sticky-brittle right now.
In an effort to create a healthier lifestyle for my adorable zuchon (Bichon Frise-Shih Tzu mix), I bought a Purina Chewnola because, well, because it sounded very granola-crunchy. After watching Chloe ignore it for a month, I noticed she began carrying it and 'burying' it under blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, clothes, whatever, for another month. Not chewing on it it, simply carrying it. Last night she completely stripped the outer layer and as I sit here typing, she is burying the remaining two inch nubbin in the blankets beside me. Once she decided it was time, she attacked it with vigor. She ate the entire outer layer first and then attacked the rawhide and center at the same time. She obviously enjoyed it it greatly because bits are stuck in the fur around her face, even on top of her head! It's not unlike a little kid experiencing his first cotton candy cone at the fair. I would like for Purina to continue creating other healthier chewies and treats.
