Pros: 5.1 Channel Input for Dolby Digital, DSP modes, Night Mode, Test Setup, 6-channel for DVD Cons: Not built to last, speakers are only adequate (subwoofer non-powered)
This receiver from RCA served it needs while it lasted, but I found its reliability wanting (I also had a 32" TV from RCA, which did it last over two years -- a trend?). It lasted about two years (Part of that time in storage) before it would turn on, ...
Pros: Affordable Home Theatre, Retains value, 700 watts Cons: Difficult to install peripherals, clumsy and cumbersome speaker size
The time had come for an upgrade. Although the solid 27" RCA color television had held up well and produced modest sound quality for an average viewer, it wasn't enough amid newer technology. The DVD era had arrived and my home theater system was ...
Pros: Excellent value and sound in one package. Cons: Front and surround speakers might look a little big compared to other upscale systems.
Thats right, a home theatre package in one box. I started looking for a home theatre system around the hollidays. In the paper, magazines, on the web, and in the stores. With all different kinds of models and sizes its hard to decide whats right for...
Pros: Great Sound, Great Looks, Great Price Cons: The manual is a little lacking.
This is my 1st Home Theater system. I shopped around, went to all the stores and just wasn't happy with systems under $300. I don't just run out and buy the 1st thing I find. I look around, do the research and then, and only then, make the purchase....
Pros: Great Sound for the price Cons: Sub-woofer lacking the bass punch
I have had this system for almost a year now and have found it to perform very well with a few exceptions. One being the lack of "PUNCH" from the subwoofer. Even at 200W it is lacking the bass power most of us are looking for. Throw in a larger set of...
Pros: Crisp clear sound, price, many connections possible Cons: comes with cheap thin wire
$258 at samsclub.com
I'm very impressed with the theater system. The sound is crisp and clear. I didn't bother using the wire that came with the system though. I wired everything with 12 gauge just to make sure I got the best sound. I...
I love this stereo system. I blast my rock music and the subwoofer if great. I like the nice sound that come out of the speakers. I also use this for video games and movies and it is awsome.
Pros: Receiver Cons: Difficult to set up and adjust. Speakers are average at best.
The receiver is rather difficult to set up. Even now 3 years later I am not sure about some of the features. For best results you really need to have it set up correctly.
I found that the front speakers were not that great for playing music from Cd's. I upgraded to a Klipsch center and Energy fronts and have noted a great improvement. I think the Receiver must be better than the speakers.
I am debating about whether to ditch the receiver too but not having anything to compare it to it sounds fine to me.
Pros: Very upgradeable, and the price can't be beat. Cons: Needs upgrades, and the controls are confusing
I think this a receiver that is way better than the speakers it comes with. I thought it had plenty of volume, but one day I decided to buy a separately powered RCA sub. With the new sub I was almost kicked out of my apartment! Speaker upgrades are all anyone needs to see a dramatic change in the quality.
The settings and controls are confusing and it sounds terrible if it is not set up right.
Big Sound, little price, look here by ctgblue ,Jan 27 '05
Pros: Big sound, clear sound, lots of bass, lots of features Cons: Not a "audiophile name" that's it.
Unfortunately, you can no longer find this new.
Now, this is not for your audiophiles with elevated noses at anything not made with more consonants than you can pronounce.
This was made for someone who knows the value of big clear sound and saving some cash.
700 watts is enough to fill my 2400 sqft house and wake the neighbors too.
Has some really nice sound shaping feature for use with non-surround media (VCR, TV, Cable)
I absolutely love this system, it definitely outlasted my DVD player. I'm a year into the second one now.
I had the cables for the rear speakers installed in the walls during the finishing phase of the house (well worth the money)
I have a 16 x 20 family room, with 19' ceiling, that opens into the kitchen, this thing fills it at moderate volume.
It was a steal and I'd recommend it to anyone not stuck on some high end name.
