REI VISA Card (US Bank)

Pros: 1% cash back, no annual fee, high credit line, good customer service
Cons: Takes 6-18 months from date of purchase to get your 1% cash back.

I have had an REI VISA card with US Bank for several years and now can't get rid of the card fast enough.  REI's philosophy and US Bank's operating methods no longer mesh. 

US Bank recently raised their basic rate to compensate for the lower prime rate and also upped their rate for advances to 23.99 (nearly as high as their delinquency rate). The announcement came just days after another card lowered its rate and a couple months after a billing problem.  Since I pay off every month, I found this more offensive than problematic.  Upon calling to cancel, they said that I would have to "opt out" because if I cancelled with an outstanding balance--they would tack on a maintenace fee.  They have an itchy trigger finger as far as fees go.  That would be adding insult to injury except that on the last item billed (after I had opted out--coincidence), US Bank tacked on a .99 cent currency transaction fee because (even though the merchant informed me that they bill in US dollars and the product is being shipped from a US address to a US address)  the company is headquartered in Canada.
