Pros: Memory card reader, USB connectivity, karaoke capability in a DVD player Cons: Quality so poor unit is unusable
I purchased it for the built in memory card reader, USB port and Karaoke capability. Unfortunately I bought it on-line and have received the the poorest built piece of home electronics I have ever purchased. It can only play a DVD for approximately ...

Display stopped working after 3 months
by mtuzcu ,Feb 04 '07
Pros: Can read almost all media types Cons: Bad interface, no long names, display died quickly, subtitle font, color, size can't be changed
At that time this was the best divx player, together with card reader, karaoke etc and I decided to buy this product. It reads all media seamlessly, multisession CD's, re-writeable CD's etc all work perfectly. If you have some sub-directories the player gets confused and it lists all sub-directories under root.It doesn't support long file names, subtitles are generally fine but I had some minor issues with some *.srt files. However after 3 months the buttons on the player stopped working, and also the display died, but remote control is still working, I can use all features with remote only. I didn't have time to send the player back to rjtech guys, probably I'm gonna buy another brand, overall rating is good, however needs to be improved.

Karaoke Anyone?
by mzguru ,Dec 26 '06
Pros: 1. Most affordable Karaoke player w/HDD support!
2. Plays Everything!
3. Firmware upgradeable
Cons: 1. Remote Control sucks.
2. Remote lacks an HDD/DVD button.
3. 8 Character filenames.
DVD/Video:
This is a great DiVX player and I have been through a few of them. There is nothing this baby wont play. The USB2.0 port on the back allows you to plug in an external Hard Drive full of MP3's or DIVX. I just wish the remote let you switch between DVD and HDD like the LASONIC player does.... RIght now you need to get out of your chair and unplugging the cable.
FileSystem:
All filenames will be truncated to 8 characters. For Karaoke this means you need to print out a track to song list. NO scrolling via the remote looking for a song.
Karaoke:
CD G Karaoke works well! If you were thinking of putting your Karaoke collection on an external Hard Drive just note that there is "NO MP3 G support" so you will need to reencode your CD G disks to DiVX using supper cdg2avi (approximately 20-40megabytes per song) if you want to load Karaoke from one source.

Plays all media types!
by nunya123 ,Sep 26 '05
Pros: Plays files through usb drives, flash cards, or CD\DVD+-RW. Advanced sound and video functions. Cons: Must switch between disk, usb, or memory card manually, files read as 8.3
I got this unit expecting it to play maybe 70 percent of the videos it has downloaded, but so far it has played every single one with no problems. I have an extensive collection of divx, xvid, mp4, avi files that are all played with excellent sound and video quality. You will notice some artifacts, but no more than you will notice on your computer monitor. This player will read these files from about any disk you can burn, and also from a multitude of flash drives, and even from a USB drive (though the USB port is in the back). I am very happy with this player and would recommend it to anyone looking to play computer files on their TV.

Good overall player
by macstratdb ,Dec 30 '05
Pros: Plays 95% of the file types I've tried
All the Features work perfectly Cons: Flimsy drive bay
Will not play H.264 videos
This player is great. I got it so i wouldnt haveta watch all my movies on my computer. Most file formats seem to work. I've even hooked my guitar up to the microphone ports. the only downsides that i see to this is that the drive bay is a peice of flimsy plastic no more than 1/4" and im constantly afraid im going to break the thing off. The other downside that i've found is that while it does play MP4 files, it will not play H.264 MP4 files. other than those 2 things i highly recomend this player

Problems with xvid, stopped working entirely after a month
by docbillnet ,Jan 15 '06
Pros: Many audio outputs, and plays most anything with at most minor problems. Cons: Only lasted one month. For quality AVI viewing you need to convert to divx.
I find on many of my xvid videos the player will sometimes freeze. Pushing fast forward followed by play will unstick the video, but you miss a few seconds that way. When I play the same videos in my ydp-530 it will skip a few seconds of video at the same points. If I hadn't previously watched the videos on my computer I would have thought that someone had clipped a commercial at those points. I tried copying the videos from DVD to USB, but the same problem occurs, so it is not a media problem. If I convert the videos to divx5, then neither player has problems.
After about 2 weeks of use I began having problems with the audio output. The volume of the audio output would decrease, so I would have to raise the TV volume to 100% just to hear DVD movies. After 4 weeks the player stopped working entirely. It will not power-up. I will have take the machine apart just to find out if I still have a disk in the machine.
