Pros: Price, no battery. Very good shave. Self-sharpening blades. (Could be a con)
Cons: Snapping the head on after cleaning is not a "solid" fit. Better design needed.
My previous Norelco didn't last as my first Norelco so I decided to get another brand. I looked at the available models at (evil) Walmart and ended up with the Remington R-830. I decided that I didn't need a battery so this model seemed a better choice than those that had batteries. I was also on a budget so as much as I would like to have a better electric shaver, I decided that the bottom of the line would probably be fine.
The instructions warn you that it may take 3 weeks for your skin to get used to it. The first day or two I had severe burns after using it. After about the third day or so, I didn't feel any pain after using it, and haven't since, so I am pleased that the break-in period was shorter than I was expecting.
It remains to be seen how the self-sharpening blades will work out. I have had to replace the blades on my old Norelco a few times. Will self sharpening lead to shorter blade life? We'll see.
Otherwise I am pleased with this shaver. Other than the break in period it shaves very well.
