Pros: Location. Cons: None.
I stayed at the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel for six nights in May. As a repeat visitor I could tell the Hotel was still being maintained in excellent condition. My nice sized room had a spacious well designed bath with a deep tub perfect for a relaxing bath. The bed was sound and firm. The room was quiet and well equipped. My room service breakfast arrived hot and on time. The Breakfast Buffet is pricey but will also serve as your lunch. The location; 5 minutes from Central Station is ultra convenient. The neighborhood is safe at night and contains numerous restaurants, cafes and coffee shops.
Good amenities, so-so rooms by petergl ,Oct 10 '03
Pros: Great location, great concierge Cons: Lackluster rooms.
We only stayed here one night so our experience is limited. The hotel is in an excellent location, within a few blocks of Dam Square and the train station. An airport shuttle serves the hotel for about 10-11 Euros one-way, although the driver was rude and didn't help with our bags. We complained and received an email from the head of the shuttle service apologizing. Anyway, the concierge was excellent, full of information and skilled at anticipating a tourist's needs. The rooms were a bit of a disappointment for a hotel in this price range (we would have paid about $180US if we hadn't had Marriot points to redeem), as the furniture and low ceiling reminded us of a " Best Western" type place. Nonetheless, they were clean and functional with a comfortable king size bed.
